Active, as in electric. And chemical. I've heard of some of these things that require only a fraction of the drainfield, and the output is basically clean water. It's the volume of water that is, of course, the main cause of consternation, not so much the quality thereof.

Well, if he can put it up where the huckleberry bushes are, he'd be OK. I don't think that would be an issue.

...and I don't care if they "say" it comes out perfectly clean water, I don't think he'd pipe it into his well.
