I can't make an Irish Car Bomb, but I am famous in a small way for my Planter's Punches, which are good, and use 3 different types of rum. OTOH, I am small enough that I don't tolerate too many of these things.
Ruthy, I like that Nicaraguan rum "Fleur de Cana." Next choice is Bacardi, which I guess is Cuban in its bloodline (Did you notice that Luis [think that's his name] Bacardi has a fishing boat called the "Rum Bum?" I guess there's plenty of better stuff out there than those if you are a real connoisseur, which I am not.

A really good rum is Royal Oak from Trinidad. No hang over and a nice, smooth taste.
I never would have discovered it unless my friend trini introduced me to it. :)
