Gosh, do I need to go see the movie again and see if I hallucinated too? I really didn't like the Faramir thing. But, I do remember him telling Frodo something about finding his body floating in the river in a boat or something. What I remember was indeed glossed over quickly in verbage and I might have made more of a passing remark than was there. But, I do seem to remember the reference.

Someone else made that point as well. Perhaps I just missed it. Of course, the fact that the FILM CUT OUT FOR THE THIRD FREAKING TIME around that moment may have distracted me.

I'm seeing it in 40 minutes so I'll look again - and hope for no interruptions.

Surprisingly the PJ "liberties" worked for me. This was not the case with FOTR. The Osgiliath sidetrip and Faramir's alterations left me with forebodings when I first heard the rumors. But it all seemed to work very well for me. The set piece in Osgiliath was something to behold, and for the glimpses of the ruins of Old Gondor and the beginnings of the War of the Ring I can forgive the alteration.

I still have not made my mind up about the Ents just yet - though I will say that the storming of Isengard was cinematic brilliance. Laughter ensued in the theater when the flaming Ent doused his head in the onrushing waters.

The thing is with Faramir...sure, PJ changed the movie, but I just saw it as kind of putting Frodo's doubts and concerns about him (in the book) into some sort of visual shape. It would have been difficult to show Frodo's emotional concerns, so instead PJ actually made it so that Faramir's behavior caused us to have those same concerns!

I thought it was very well done. Oh my lands, I loved it!

My heart never skipped a beat...Steve was cheerful and had a great time...I wasn't the least bit tired.

I did have to get up once to go to the bathroom.

One of my favorite parts what when Gandalf and the balrog plunged into that underground massive lake! It was gorgeous! I said to Steve "Look at all that water!"

Another favorite part was the flooding of Isengard. Oh my...it was just like I've always invisioned it.

Too many favorite parts to mention! The whole thing was fabulous from start to finish. Even Sam and Frodo at the end. I loved it.

Okay, after you see the film again you're going to have to update me. I know that you're going to be watching for this.

At the time I went to the movie I didn't have advance warning about the changes in Faramir's character. I was hit blind with that. Because I just got finished reading the entire thing again before seeing the movie that was just wrong wrong wrong. But, I thought things like that after LoTR and I've gotten used to it. Matter of fact, the last time I read it I found the lines blurred between film/book. A couple of times (perish the thought) I stopped and thought, 'no, that's not how it was.' I can't believe I just admitted that.

As for the ents... I hated the handling of that last night as I watched the film and as I thought about it afterwards. But, I'm getting more okay with it. I loved the storming of Isengard, people in the theater where I was laughed at the same point! Me too. It was funny. But, it bothered me that the entmoot went wrong. After hours of thinking, perhaps this conveighs the idea to non-readers of the lack of haste of the ents? I don't know. I was disappointed in several aspects of the ents portion... but, after a few more hours of contemplation I will probably get over that.

The Faramir thing, I have always liked Faramir and Boromir's having mirrored characteristics. So giving Faramir those ring-lusting characteristics of Boromir isn't working for me. At least not yet. Don't mistake me though, I love the movie and will see it many more times.
