It doesn't necessarily keep them from wanting to try it!

Like I said, it's not failsafe. We all have to go through a period of rebellion. But a lot of how people handle situations is based on what they learned when they were very young.

Yes - and I think it is important to set the bar for rebellion pretty low so they don't have to do much to be rebelling. They will try not to push it too much that way.

I just hate for folks to think that if they are good parents, their kids won't rebel, they will never carouse. Good parents shouldn't feel like failures if they do. My excellent parents told me very well what kind of adult I was supposed to become, and I knew that whatever carousing I did had to be temporary and that I did *not* want to get caught. And I usually didn't get caught, but sometimes! ;~D
