Yes, true. I have been thinking about that some too, especially since I have 2 children in college, one exactly Jen's age. Even though I think that well brought up kids will resist the deluge of socialist philosophy that is dumped on them by academia, I still regard it as a real problem. I wonder if it is even curable, in spite of the fact that most of the academic leftists are paid, at least in part, with our tax dollars.
I can just see the national outcry in the media if any effort is made to get rid of even one of them.
And they seem to hold major positions in mainstream religion, for that matter.
I didn't catch what was going on about the communion either, did you just convert to a new denomination?
No Sam, I helped a friend from work prepare a celebration honoring her son's first communion. Her family all drove several hours to get here for the event and her husband is currently deployed so she was getting very frazzled about preparations. Since her family and in-laws came from so far off she wanted to serve a good dinner afterwards. I cooked a good bit of food and helped get the room ready for the dinner. Then, she specifically said she wanted me to attend the function as well. The southern part kicked in Friday night and I suddenly realized I did not know the correct social amenities for this denomination and ran to the Hobbit Hole for guidance. LOL
It was really good. And I think I went from having a co-worker that I really like and enjoy to having a friend that's a lot of fun.
Now, for a really important topic. You are so right Sam. I can see that with my oldest child the values I taught her held fast and are in action now that she is older. And as an employee of a state college I have had to deal with a few of the socialist idiots. I was concerned about even accepting a position like this because of the majority of lunatic fringe philosophies in colleges. Fortunately I am on a technical campus with only 7 instructors and only 1 of us is politically stupid and even he has upstanding moral fiber. (we still argue a lot)
So, it ended up being that part of the reason I accepted this position is that it put one more of US in THEIR territory.
Our college has 3 other campuses though. And there are instructors that I just can't stand to hear start a sentence. I don't know what we do about that. I feel it is a HUGE problem because these people have too much influence on our future leaders. And there are too many of our future leaders who didn't get raised like kids of Hobbit Hole parents.
