Took a couple of geology courses whilst going to school in Northern Arizona complete with field trips to the Grand Canyon and all the great parks of southern Utah. It has been a hobby, and occasionly a passion, ever since. Even helped write an elective geology course back when I was teaching. I LOVE that stuff.

Even though the "caves were all wrong!!!", PJ has done quite well using New Zealand as a setting for ME. The events of the stories took place when the Earth was rather young and, from the characters' perspectives, recently "broken" and changed. Thus, you would expect to see a very rugged landscape- with jagged exposures of rock, vicious looking mountains. New Zealand, being geologically "young", is perfect for this. It is a subtle cue that the story takes place in another time, long ago, when the world was still fresh and uneroded.

Was an expensive weekend- we bought a house (to be built). And we saw TTT again.

How was your weekend?
