Gnad-no reason we can't build a "primitive crossbow" how about an oak stock, hickory bow, hmmm. That just might be the ticket, sinew the bow even, need a heavy dense wood for the bolts, red oak, persimmon. The woods abound in raw materials. Turkey wing fletching, hide glue. I think we're on to something.

stock doesn't have to be oak, better to go with a lighter wood imo... we need to get our heads together on this...

my crossbow now is a Horton Hunter XL... the image is of a Hunter XS, the latest version... mine is nearly identical... 175 lb. draw, 310 fps...
