It's amazing how much I learned 25 years ago by arriving first and making coffee that has served me well over the years.

I haven't EVER thought of myself as that stereotypical feminist career woman type. I took a few years off and raised kids and then cried when I had to go back to work. But, I've never focused on job primarily.

It's nice to be able to be of help to other people in general. i.e. make some coffee. run a few errands. Consequently after a few years, I received quite a few notable awards and recognitions in my field of which some other women have been envious. But, while they were worried about being mistaken for slaves, I was making coffee, or picking up a mess, or some other thing like that - that wasn't really in my job description. Can't get it across to 'em though.

Besides, I'd rather drink my coffee than have to choke down their stuff!

Wow! We're a lot alike.

I really wanted to stay home too, but couldn't. At least I have a no/low stress job that doesn't fuel my desire to kill someone. LOL!

The coffee thing is something that a lot of companies ask you to do, just to see if you are a team player. They use various personality tests also to be sure they aren't getting someone with a lousy work ethic.
