Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Ooops, everyone else gone to bed? Morning Bear. I was up last night tryin' to help the Mrs. get some stuff done for her class (last day before Christmas). Around midnight I couldn't access anything on the Internet...thought I broke it.
Hullo! Good morning! Back later.

Things that I liked... Smeagol/Gollum. The CGI is incredible. I think this is the first CGI character I've seen that had believable facial expressions.I liked him, but I couldn't help thinking of Don Knotts.

Good Morning, everyone! Is it breakfast yet? :)

Oh my word... do you notice details. I didn't even notice it.
Here's my favorite joke...
Farimir to Sam (about Frodo): Are you his bodyguard?
Sam: I'm his gardener.
Hysterical.
And my favorite scene was when Smeagol was turning back into Gollum after the betrayal at the Forbidden Pool and Gollum was stroking and comforting Smeagol. Effective and heartbreaking.

I didn't think the jokes were at Gimli's expense. I thought the jokes being made because Legalos and Aragorn adore him. Legalos had no plans to like this dwarf... and for all Gimli's spit and vinegar, he's so likeable. To ask a dwarf if he needs a box to stand on means that relationship has transcended race and now is on equal footing.

Found out about them as of 6:00 am this morning. I made the Dean's List with a 4.00 GPA! I'm very excited!
To: carton253
Well done carton! I guess none of your more left-leaning professors held your right-thinking against you.
Thanks for your initial review of TTT.
I'll try to have a new FReepmail for you at lunchtime today.

Thank you! I worked so hard. And I'm glad that the liberal ended up liking me. I always made sure I had my facts lined up before I spoke, so he had a hard time refuting what I said even if he disagreed with it.

I think the writers had to do that to keep the ring in jeopardy... and introduce Gondor... and stay true to Farimir's character when we first met him (he was severe in the books)... there was alot being accomplished in those scenes. To see the desperation of Gondor gave us a better understanding of Boromir also.
Allowing Frodo to go when he was so close to Denethor's grasp will set up great conflict/tension between Gandalf/Faramir/Denethor in ROTK. So... like I said, much was going on in those scenes.
But that's my opinion... and that and a $1.32 will buy you a gallon of gas as we say in these here parts.

Thank you!

I am hoping so...when my daughter wakes up, I'll ask her about going to a matinee today or tomorrow.
I think you and me might be the only ones not to see it yet?
Nice that all these "new" folks are here now.
To: Sam Cree; g'nad; Corin Stormhands
I don't think g'nad or Corin have seen it yet either.
Yes it is very nice to have new friends about. ;^)

"I made the Dean's List with a 4.00 GPA"
Hey, that is wonderful...I am very impressed.
To: Sam Cree
Thank you... all those late nights and revisions and staying home when I would rather go out paid off. I'm very pleased. And to think, all that starts all over again on January 6th.

"all that starts all over again on January 6th."
Yes, but that's exciting too, really, I think.
