Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I agree that it would be fun to go drinking with Legolas, as long as he didn't try showing off with his bow and end up shooting someone in the ear or something by mistake.
I seem to remember a scene in "Shogun," by Clavell, in which the protaganist and a Jap guy had gotten drunk together and the Jap guy had made some almost "magical" bow and arrow shots.

I just e-mailed my daughter at work that it was you, and her memory is much better than mine. Her comment -- yeah, the lady with the really blonde hair and the cool cloak. I remember her. We all really wanted one. lol Well, I told the girls that next year we have to come up with some great things to wear to the ROTK, like that!

the Jap guy had made some almost "magical" bow and arrow shots. Yep, if anybody makes trick bow shots it better be me instead of the drunk elf. I don't drink much but water, tea and coffee.... but, I could have fun with a drunk Legolas.
I can say that now, I'm back at work and Myranda isn't reading over my shoulder. She's probably at home lurking on the home computer reading instead... honey, do as I say,,,, not as I kid about in Hobbit Hole!!!!

I made my cloak back in the '70's when I only had the books for inspiration. Have worn it regularly since. Love it. Always get lots of favorable comments even though most people don't connect it with any literary source. But, it seems to be one of those things that has always stayed in style.

Which of course would not keep me from making the effort.
