Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I would, but that is about 50 miles away and I can't take the time off from work to do it. If I wait until the weekend, I take the chance of a neighbor calling the cops and being fined $1000 for having an illegal animal. :(

Wow..... I had no idea there were places that had made them that criminal to own. I am no fan of pit bulls, but that is silliness.

Yup. I'd rather him go with some dignity rather than be thrown in a pit as a bait dog. His temperment is all wrong for fighting.

It was one of the most humbling things that's ever happened to me. They offer to lay down their lives and yet, send us a gift!

Amen to that. And, what kinda stalled me to thinking was the nice fold of the flag. It occurred to me -- how neatly they tuck us away every night -- warm jammies and a kiss on the forehead. I may have to write a poem. :)

Why can't you take it to another county where he's legal? Or is he not legal in lots of counties? Take him to the Human Society or something? (where he might be put down anyway, but maybe someone will buy him)

Yup. It's a crime to own a pit bull terrier, a Staffordshire terrier or a mix that contains more than 50% of either one. It's stupid really.

Even the folks that were grandfathered in when the law was passed had to have $100k liability insurance, a wooden fence at least 6 feet tall and the dog must be muzzled whenever in public, even if it's just a walk around the neighborhood.

If you own a pit and it gets loose, you'd better grab your wallet and call a lawyer because the county is going to slaughter you with fines.

Wow, Zeus would never understand that. He loves everybody. The biggest problem with him is that he thinks he's a lap dog and weighs over 90 pounds.
