The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good thinkin'. :-)

I didn't download the one he mentioned, so I dunno which it is! She's goe a re-mix of it as a duet with a guy (can't remember who). But it's best when she just sings it by herself. It's a shame Whitney got all the notice for the song.
But it's like Gary Morris and "Wind Beneath My Wings." Heard him in concert, just him and guitar. Sounded better than Bette...

The simple arrangement is probably her first version, and I agree it's the prettiest.
The one Corin linked to is a remake she did... a duet with Vince Gill.

Sweetie, the stove's a cookin' and the beer's on ice! Dang... Maybe it's true. All the good ones *are* taken. You have any sisters? :-P
To: Corin Stormhands
I think she's underappreciated as a singer and songwriter in any case. Kind of a shame.
As I mentioned to WN earlier, I really like her latest albums. They're slightly bluegrassy, and mucher simpler and more acoustic arrangements than many of her other albums. EXCELLENT musicians, too - she got the best of the best!

Oh geez...

OK, I gots ta get to bed! I'll see you guys tomorrow night, maybe - or on Friday, in any case. Don't implode without me!
To: Wneighbor
kewl... gimme a picture, an address, and beer money fer the road...

Dolly also released another solo version of the song, after Whitney's came out, where she sings it Whitney style, i.e. belting it out at full volume with little style.
I much prefer her original version, where she puts a tremble in her voice... sounds like she's about to break down and cry as she's singing. Much more effective.

Call it a hunch, but I think we're gonna get along just fine at the ol' entmoot.
To: RosieCotton
Don't worry, Implosion is still at least 3 days away. ;)
See you when you get back!

Oh geez... Stop the insanity!...

Dang... Maybe it's true. All the good ones *are* taken. You have any sisters? :-P My dad would take to his sick bed if he heard you say that! I'm one of a kind and that's all he could handle havin'.
