The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Mornin' Dawntreader!!!!! ROFL!!!
I do so love Rimmer!!! From 'Polymorph':
RIMMER is wearing a T-shirt which reads, "GIVE QUICHE A CHANCE." He also wears shorts and a wristwatch, and is smoking a pipe. His face sports a goatee and black spectacles. He speaks with a lot of hand movements, fingers together, outstretched.
RIMMER: Look, just because it's an armour-plated alien killing machine that salivates unspeakable slobber, doesn't mean it's a bad person. What we've got to do is get it round a table, and put together a solution package -- perhaps over tea and biscuits.
...
RIMMER: Well, that's certainly an option, David, yes. Erm, but here's my proposal: Let's get tough. The time for talking is over. Call it extreme if you like, but I propose we hit it hard and hit it fast with a major -- and I mean _major_ -- leaflet campaign, and while it's reeling from that, we'd follow up with a {whist} drive, a car boot sale, some street theatre and possibly even some benefit concerts. OK? Now, if that's not enough, I'm sorry, it's time for the T-shirts: "Mutants Out" ... "Chameleonic Life Forms, No Thanks" ... and if that's not enough, well, I don't know what will be.

You're welcome!
Looks like it's you and me representing the male population here today.
Sam? You still around?
g'nad? Work keeping you busy?
ksen? Back from wherever it was you were going?

Good morning! Another Texan heard from!
Maybe we should have a Texas Moot and all get together for the release of ROTK... that way, those of us who won't be able to travel to Florida for the Big Moot can still have some fun!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear; g'nad; Sam Cree; ksen
Don't know about Sam and g'nad. Isn't ksen gone for the week?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Sounds good to me!!! My folks live in Marble Falls, and I certainly won't need an excuse to go to my favorite part of the state: The Hill Country. Hubby is not so into LOTR, but he was definitely interested and impressed. He wanted Merry and Pip killed off though!! WAAAAH...I need to make him read the books.
Let's do it! House here barely able to contain 5 people though. How many Texas Freeper/fans we got here anyway?

Hehe Rimmer is my favorite character...he's just so ANNOYING!
My fave quote from Polymorph is something I can't post on here! The name he wanted to call the group, but the abbreviation was something, erm...not suitable for posting on here. LOL!! That had me in stitches.

ROFL!!! O fersure!! not something for a family thread...that's what struck me about RD in the first place...when I saw it the first time, my jaw was to the ground in shock...*!@*THIS was on PBS??!!@*
Rimmer is nothing but pure fury!!! Plus Chris Barrie (in the early seasons) was (in my eyes) ADORABLE...

How many Texas Freeper/fans we got here anyway?Well, there's me, and my wife (Rose in RoseBear) in Austin. Wneighbor and her daughter are up in the northern part of the state, and I suspect My Back Yard is somewhere in the Austin area as well. One of the things that disappointed me about the big Entmoot in Florida was that it wasn't scheduled for opening day... most folks had other commitments before Christmas. But if we Texan fans get together, we ought to be able to see ROTK opening day, since it would be just a day trip for most of us!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
those of us who won't be able to travel to Florida for the Big Moot can still have some fun! What are you talking about? I KNOW you and Rose are going to Florida.
Which of course does not keep us here in Texas from having a pre-moot for ROTK.
To: Dawntreader
RWRF and ecurbh are in Minnesota....I believe.

To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Trouble with opening day is... that if I have to teach school that day I can't make a 5-1/2 hour drive. I had to leave at 12:30 to make it to the Drafthouse by 6.
But, perhaps we can work around things as best we can. Maybe if I know enough ahead of time.... but I might not can do it for opening.

RE: mootless in Carolina
I've always heard Carolina was beautiful. Maybe I need to go there on vacation someday.

(just running short of moots right now)
To: All
I'm on my way to pick up the kid and go home for the afternoon. I have to do night-time office hours tonight and confer with students who can't make it in for daytime conferences. BLAH.
I'm going home to make some homemade cheese soup, cornbread, homemade regular bread, get some beef jerky started and probably put on a peach cobbler. Anyone for a little light late elevenses or lunch? Ruthy will get real lunch out in a few minutes I'm sure. Also, have lots of chips and salsa.
