Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I was going to see if it would play audio CD's (if it did, I planned on patching it into the speakers in the bedroom and use it as a CD player.) So the thing was turned on and I tipped up the back end to see what was plugged into what. When I tipped it, it made this grinding noise. So what the heck...I popped a DVD in just to see if it would play and it did! (I was going to say "voila", but that's french.)

Yes, everything seemed to load pretty fast. I'll keep checking periodically too, and let you know if anything fails to appear.
I am planning to make one more change to the flat frodo section before it "goes live". Because it has grown in scope, and has a different graphics and color scheme, I think I'll make it a subdomain (journeys.the-hobbit-hole.net) rather than a subdirectory (www.the-hobbit-hole.net/journeys/). I'll have to update the links on everything though. Shouldn't take more than a few hours, as long as everything goes smoothly.
I can always host the thread-header images from my server too, if need be.

We've been making ice cream! With the cream we bought at the dairy yesterday. When we come to visit you, I'll swing by and pick some up if you like...it's actually very reasonably priced. And some whole unhomogenized milk too?

I think for the next thread, you should host the image so we aren't relying on free image hosts, sure!
Speaking of free..... How are the Hobbit Hole bills? - Do you need to host a Hobbitathon to cover costs? - We will, you know.

It had an audio CD in at the time? When you tipped the back end up? Come to think of it, I had a DVD in there. The last one I tried to play when it was still freezing. A Three Stooges DVD. It's been playing okay ever since.

How are the Hobbit Hole bills?No problem so far. Last month I only used 350MB of bandwidth, out of 5,000MB allowed before extra charges kick in. Still plenty of room for growth.
