The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'll have to send a letter to him general delivery...I have no idea how to get in touch with him, but there are two people in the town they are from with that last name...

Do I truly live an astounding and amazing life? Or do I just see everything as being astounding and amazing?

Both are true.... amazing things happen to you, and you are also just a bit nuts! :~D

you are also just a bit nuts!

I'm sure you mean that in the most loving way! LOL

Actually, I only logged on under the pretense of getting a frozen custard recipe and then I logged off without one...

uh-oh!

LOL

I think that's a great idea. Because we all would love to meet one of our guys!!! I know I would!!!

Of course! And with great affection. Only someone who is a bit nuts would have started up a conversation with some guy with an 82nd Airborne patch who was pondering the candy selection in a convenience store! People who aren't nuts never get to have those experiences!

Frozen Custard Recipe:

Buy store-bought custard
Put it in the freezer.

There, you won't log off without a recipe again.

Unfortunately, I would never have even noticed the patch. It's getting to the point the T-shirts have such offensive stuff on them sometimes that I'm almost quit looking at them.

Now this one sounds good!

Frozen Custard Recipe

2 cups of milk

1/4 teaspoonful of salt

Yolks of 4 eggs

1/2 cup of heavy cream

1/2 cup of sugar, generous measure

3/4 tablespoonfuls of vanilla extract

Use all the ingredients, save the last two, in making a "boiled custard;" when cold add the cream and vanilla and freeze as usual

See? - Nothing ventured nothing gained! That makes for a pretty boring story in comparison...

With all that fresh milk you got you could make Rommegrot. That would be good.

why did I say that? now I'm hungry for it.

Yeah, you know, I've had people in uniforms lookin' for me before. My excitement wasn't exactly of the same type as 2J's.

2J, you can't see me jumping up and down, cheering. Well, if I put back my webcam, maybe you could. But that is SUPER news. God must have arranged that "chance meeting".

I guess I'll hold off the letter to the Chaplain until we can get a local address (I hope). We still owe him, and the others, a mountain of thanks.

Now we have to go "shopping" for a new chaplain in Afghanistan. I'm too hooked on this stuff to quit now.

Where does our chaplain live? Didn't she say Georgia or one of the Carolinas? He and his family could come to entmoot.
