The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well at least it's cool for you now.

When we drove our daughter out to California for her freshman year, we stopped in a town, I think, a little more northwest from you. It was middle August and I thought my skin was going to burn up. I can't remember the town.
Anyway it was a "warm up" for the "Mojave" (spell that right?)we faced in California about a day or so later.
Some of those California people would turn up their noses at me when I'd tell them we are from Texas, then say someting to the effect of "Isn't it rather DRY over there?"
I come back with "Have you looked in your back yard over those coastal mountains."
They don't say much after that.

Thank you for all the info! I appreciate it. I ordered them on-line because I don't want to go to the post office right now and I need to wait till I get paid to go mail the next things anyway. But, I am going to be all set!!!

How are the new glasses? Did you get 'em already? Or only order them?

Wench trouble again tonight darlin?

Or is that "lack of wench" trouble?

Could be either way.... just never can tell. Sometimes us wimmin can't even figure out what's going on with each other - ya know.

I've been off fighting wars with the go-pat-go crowd, for some reason that I can't completely explain...

Okay, so I guess it's not just my wimmin friends that I can't understand tonight. no gender bias here.

Hey mstar. Haven't you seen all those westerns. Don't you know we only have desert here? < /tongue in cheek >

course I realize I'm sayin' this to someone who, like many native amphibians, breathes the Harris County water. :-)

You mean threads the depths of Harris County flood waters in a fairly, heavy thunderstorm. I don't know what's worse. I think we have the climate of Calcutta..honest, I read that somewhere. I know you, you would agree.

You're welcome!

We actually ordered the glasses a month ago... they were ready the week of the 4th, but we couldn't get there to pick them up that week. Then we had an attack of laziness last week and didn't go. So, today we made it down there.

I don't like the new ones... the nurse didn't take the time to properly adjust them, so they keep slipping down my nose. Plus, the prescription is slightly weaker than what I had previously (doc says my eyes have improved a little) so they're making me squint quite a bit.

On the other hand, we got to eat a late lunch at Teka Molina in San Antone, and we picked up barbecue from Rudy's after we got home. So we're doing ok!

I have to go to and prepare for tommorrow's "Sweat Feast" aka "Jars Of Clay" Concert at Six Flags...but before I go, I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT A "GO, PAT, GO" is.

What's a "go-pat-go crowd?

That would be the "buy American at any price" Pat Buchanan crowd.

You know, it always seems that new glasses never fit quite right to me. Whether it's the nose or the ears or what.... new ones aren't quite right.

I used to wear contacts .... but now, my vision is just to weird for them. Therefore, I pick probably the worst visual option and just don't correct it 'cept when I have to. Driving and movies. That's about it.

Lack-of-wench trouble and having-wench trouble are actually only slightly different. Merely a matter of which cabinet to reach into... :-)

Yeah, I'll probably be all right with them in a few days. These are my first new pair since '99.

Oh...he is NOT going to run again, is he? We got enough problems with the Libs, Bill and Hill, without in-fighting. Sorry, the news has been so depressing with the "Lack of WOMD" crap, I have been avoiding it."

Good evening!

Hey sis, keep the chaplain's wife in your prayers this evening...extra hard. She's got two sick kids and sounded a bit down in her last email to me...just tired, you know?

We have sacrifices being made on our own soil too...I try not to ever forget.

Sent out 3 packages to Afghanistan today!

LOL. That's the same year I bought my last ones. Does this mean it's time to get new for me?

Me too! When I pray, I have to cover these families. Even with the differences between Jill and I right now, I really see how hard this is on her. And when I hear the guys over there comment, they are always asking for prayer for their wives and kids. So, to do the guys right we've got to pray for the families.

Chaplain's wife and kids will get a lot tonight.
