The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The battle was finished, yet it was left unfinished on purpose so that there wasn't a sense of resolution. It was like the first wave of a battle. They won.. barely... nothing to rejoice over... because there are other waves coming.

I dunno... it starts at 1900...I'll be incoherent by 2100... just got back from the ceremony...

The scenes with Arwen were right and revolved around her decision to sail to the Grey Havens or stay. She is pressured by Elrond and Aragorn to stay. Elrond shows her that Aragorn would be leaving her anyway. I didn't mind the scenes. In fact... they kept the elves in the movie.

Legalos is an engima. Maybe thats what elves are supposed to be. Did you say "elf enema?" Elrond could use that. ;-)

I have to agree with you with basically all you have said. I went in knowing there were scenes that were added that didn't follow the book. But overall it was so wonderfully done that I forgave the inconsistancies.
I do have to say that I had read in one review about the Eowyn, Aragorn, Arwyn "love" triangle. I don't know if I was just seeing what I wanted to see, but I thought that Aragorn thought Eowyn beautiful, but I could tell that his heart was too full with Arwyn and his destiny to look at her as more than a sister type. Did anyone else see that?
All in all, I have to say. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT AGAIN!!!!!

WOW, Great review! Will be seeing the movie tonight. Full time dilation has taken effect and the hours are crawling by here at work.......... The wait for ROTK is going to be unbearable!
To: htur_75
Yes.. Eowyn has it bad for Aragorn. Aragorn feels sorry for her, but his heart is Arwen's. Even when he came back from his fall, he didn't even notice her. He had to protect himself from the wrath of Gimli!

Interesting, I'll have to clip that to my son, who is taking German in school this year.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that. I was afraid that the scenes would feel "fake" or forced, you know what I mean..........."gotta have Liv in the movie somehow, Oh how about a love scene, etc". I have nothing against a love scene, but I want it to be a part of the picture as a whole, not an afterthought.
Excellent review by the way, thank you. I'm going to see it on Friday, and I'm longing to hear any reviews/spoilers/etc that I can.

Anyone else hear/read that RoTK will be released in IMAX format? There's an IMAX theater in Orlando...

It ran with the credits... We didn't stay - told brother we could hear it at home! Should play it now!
To: ksen

It means too many students are trying to find out their grades. I want to know what I got!!!

I heard Gollum's song. I like it! I sang along while the people were all filing out. It was a madhouse.

Let us know! JenB did good! I just know you will too.

2.5 hours to go. What a great review! It's got me even more antsy! My favorite characters are Frodo and Sam - (though I love Legolas, and they all do a really great job!) on their lonely journey towards Mordor. Sitting here counting the minutes!
