The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Your kids are very small aren't they? How old is your oldest? I think with the oldest you are really cautious. Then, you lighten up after you figure out not everything is going to end up tragically. :-)
I bet your son would have fun camping. A nice long outdoor adventure with no limits on climbing, swimming, digging, chasing and getting dirty?

Heh! Sorry I only thought of that after I posted, then I said, "Gee that's really small!" Sorry...

Course, I don't use eye protection often enough when I am weed-wacking.... Me neither. But, that day I borrowed the lawn mower from school that had the grass catcher missing so everything projected from the rear of the mower? I found safety glasses to wear then.

She's my favorite neighbor...she's the italian one that I exchanged the eggplant for a bag of flour (I just asked for 2 cups and she gave me a whole bag!) Lot of times, I make waffles and it's more than we can eat and I give her some and she and her kids eat them before she sends them off to school. She says they all get excited whenever they see me coming across the street.
It's nothing for her to see a good deal in the store and pick me up some OJ or milk, or something like that and I do the same. We have about the same income, so we're always watching out for bargains and passing them on to each other.

Yeah, surprisingly I wasn't like that with my eldest until she had her first bad fall. I have always been that way myself; my idea of camping is a beach house with A/C... But my son, he climbs EVERYTHING! I won't be the one going camping with them. My husband can take them. I would make life too miserable for everyone! For the most part, I just try to keep my paranoia to myself. Hee hee!

HA!

LOL That's ok... I really got a chuckle out of it.

Wow. I used to have a neighbor like that in the old town. It was a guy though. Single, only a couple of years older than Jill. But, he's a great bargain shopper and neighbor.

Ha! It was actually easier for me to read, no kidding!
Every letter has another letter superimposed on top of it's self, just slightly higher up. Like a capital L has a tall back and two bottoms...and a o looks like an 8.

I once had the idea that since I love roughing it in the outdoors so much, naturally my best friend would want to go with me. For 3 days. And I sort of miscalculated on that. I think it was in 1986 or 87. I'm still hearing negative remarks about that trip.

I like it because there is never any mention of money...we know it'll come back to us one way or another. It's just a "Hey, wow...thanks!" kinda deal.
It's nice.

2J this is not good --- especially the "o" looking like an "8". So, what does the 8 look like?

It looks like a chain with three links...000, except all connected together and standing up. My periods look like this ; and that looks like it has an extra dot on the top.

Yeah, that was kind of the way we had it. Kind of a coop thing.
And before I took this job up here, his job took him to California for about 3 months. I thought nothing of taking care of everything over at his house, paying his bills for him etc. (I mean it was his money, I just did the checks and mail) And watered his yard and all that kind of stuff that just doesn't stop because your employer says you gotta go do something in another state.
So, a lot of people questioned me about what I was getting paid to do that. I didn't get paid. It sounded like what neighbors do.
But now, I am way in his debt because you know who's been taking care of my house down there all this time I've been up here? And he keeps saying "Kim, That's just what neighbors do."
