Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I saw
We Were Soldiers last night.
Awesome movie. I highly recommend that all you Netflix people put it on your queues, or better yet, just go buy it.
Lt. Gen. Moore would be the type of officer I'd be proud to fight under. In the extra stuff they interview him and he says that hollywood has always got the fighting man movies wrong. He said that the main reason our men fight is not for flag or country, but for each other.
I think he's got a good point. When the rubber meets the road you are trying to protect your buddy, not thinking about the flag or Constitution.

Here are updated pictures, taken this morning and this weekend...
Joshua (in his patriotic sunglasses...he looks like Elton John!) with one of the Buff Orpis...we've given up on the names, they look identical. This one is probably Benny Hen, since she's the sweeter of the two and will let you hold her...

Now this is the backside of one of the Buff Orpis. The "cooplet" is 10" high, for reference.

And this is the other three chickens...remember, Jar Jar and Roy are 6 weeks older than the Buff Orpingtons...apparently the Orpis grow fast!

prayin' fer yer eye...
the guineas are thrivin'... they are extremely aggressive though... the kids drug a string around the box and they all attacked it... they bite it so tenaciously you can pick them up by the string... they peck at your hand when you reach down in the box... but they are calm when held... they are extremely attentive to their surroundings... just what we wanted to keep down the ticks, chiggers and snakes...
To: g'nad
Sounds like good guineas!
I wonder, did you have any guarantees on the one you lost...they might reimburse you, or get you another one.
Just wonderin'.

2J - Yikes, that is terrible, the eye accident. And weird how it happened just moments after you took off safety goggles. Who'da thought. I hope you will feel much better soon.
I had a birthday last Thurs. and received some gifts this weekend that you guys might be interested in.
My husband bought me the sword that Gandalf uses, and the Elendil. Elendil I don't have yet, it is on order. The Gandalf sword is cool, and heavy. I've been playing Eowyn with it in the livingroom. lol
The other thing is the game of Risk, but the Middle Earth, Lord of the Rings version. I used to love the original. Lot's of late night drinking too much coffee fun. We played this one last night til 1am, and had the movie on in the background. Great fun! I recommend it for Entmoot for sure.
RMDupree, sorry to hear about the all the job situation. Keep hope alive. Your boss going to bat for you has a lot of potential for changing their decision.

Happy late birthday MBY!It was tricksey to not tell us!
Cool presents! - I would LOVE to have one of the swords, and Gandalf's Glamdring is a gorgeous sword, possibly the prettiest of the set with it's blue handle.
And yes, I attempted to make a Ruthy style breakfast but quickly realized I was no Ruthy!
To: 2Jedismom
Lovely yard, and what cutie pie in the shades, the chicks too.
