Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

But (Keebler) elves make lembas! It can't be Keebler elves making lembas. They're short mini-elves. Elves making lembas a tall. Very tall. Therefore, it can't be Keebler.

The Idiot in Society
(Voice Over) But Mr Figgis is no ordinary idiot. He is a lecturer in idiocy at the University of East Anglia. Here he is taking a class of third-year students.
Half a dozen loonies led by Figgis come dancing through the glade singing tunelessly. They are wearing long University scarves.
(Voice Over) After three years of study these apprentice idiots receive a diploma of idiocy, a handful of mud and a kick on the head.
A vice-chancellor stands in a University setting with some young idiots in front of him. They wear idiot gear with BA hoods. One walks forward to him, he gets a diploma, a faceful of mud and stoops to receive his kick on the head. Cut to happy parents smiling proudly.
(Voice Over) But some of the older idiots resent the graduate idiot.
(Old Idiot) I'm a completely self-taught idiot. I mean, ooh arh, nob arhh, nob arhh .... nobody does that anymore. Anybody who did that round here would be laughed off the street. No, nowadays people want something wittier.

But Keebler elves are bakers. And they're obviously woodland elves from Mirkwood. The secret lembas recipe is what started the whole Keebler empire!

But, lembas came from the golden wood. The elves of lothlorien were the ones making lembas. Mirkwood elves had to come up with their own stuff. Barrelled dwarf I think.

But Legolas (a Mirkwood elf) recognized it so maybe the two recipes were similar. The Lothlorien elves took their lembas when they left Middle Earth. The Mirkwood elves needed a commodity to sell in the world of Men and commercialized their version of lembas. And the Keebler company was born.

Legolas, a Mirkwood elf, was also the tallest member of the fellowship. Therefore, Keebler must not have decended from the Mirkies.

The way I see it, the Mirkwood elves ended up being punished for staying in Middle Earth past their time so they got shrunk sometime after Legolas left.
