Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well, I guess now that the word is out, I can tell you...I got my flag about 2 weeks ago. They were and still may be working on it, so it may be a while for them to get to everyone. I'm so delighted that you are getting this. The flag is truly beautiful (and HUGE) and had my name on it, and the date it flew over the command post.

I had something terrible happen.

Yesterday, after mowing the lawn, I came in the house, took off my safety glasses that I wear when I mow and spiffed up a bit. Then I came in the kitchen and was planning on frying some chicken livers. I reached up in to the cabinet pulled down a little electric chopper I use to whir up my eggs for the batter. The cord that was wrapped around it (spring type, you know?) came unwrapped like a spring and sliced the pupil of my right eye.

Had to go to the ER. I have a cut on my pupil that is quite obvious. They said it was pretty superficial and should heal pretty quickly, but the dang thing hurts like someone is driving a nail into my eye. So they have me on Lortab which makes me feel six feet under.

So I'll just be checking in now and then...

Who-da thunk I should wear safety glasses in the kitchen??
