Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'm staying at my sister's this weekend. Garden needs weeding big time and it's almost time to plant collards. :)
To: Overtaxed
So you aren't moving? - huh - Well, at least you got a moot out of the deal!
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah, the moot was fun!

I dunno...I bet he could look at a chicken and tell whether or not it was healthy, had a calm demeanor, if it was sleek or puffy feathered...
Since I only have a few chickens, these are things I would look for...I was only supposed to have the two, you know? Might as well get a breed that you like!
I really like my breeds I got though. Roy and Jar Jar are two All American chickens! Just your basic everyday "been around forever" standard breeds that have proven hardy and productive. I feel very patriotic when I look at them, like apple pie and hotdogs.
The buff orpingtons are English birds...originate from a country friendly to us.

So now job search? - How long till the place you are at closes down? How much time have you got?

I think the last truck is supposed to go out Aug. 15, but the word is that they already have enough people to pack. I don't want to do many commutes to KS...I get tired just thinking about it! I'd need a 3 day weekend just to recover from the travel.
To: 2Jedismom
I am just really enjoying what you are saying!
To: Overtaxed
So time is short! - Know where you want to go, job-wise?
To: HairOfTheDog
:-)
I love the little biddies.

*snicker, snicker* :)
Speaking of English birds....somebody at the Stilwell place thought I was originally from England. England? Ohio? Where do people get this stuff!
To: 2Jedismom
And I love that you love them!
Did I tell you I was seriously considering ducks? - I would love to try, but I am just not completely sure I could train the dog not to eat them.... Maybe, maybe not... Gidget does hold back on the bunnies now because I have told her no, but she quivers.... she'd like to go.... - and now, after the bunnies, I guess I have to consider that the cat still has it in him too.

Hear one accent you've heard them all?
That reminds me.... I used to walk past a classroom at my old job where Vietnamese immigrants were taking English and Citizenship preparation.... The teacher had a Southern drawl.... I kindof wondered if the Vietnamese were learning English with a Southern accent. ;~D
To: HairOfTheDog
I think they would be sweet! You know you have to put their water low enough that they can get their nostrils under the water? I didn't know that, but stumbled on that bit of information in all of my readings.
You could get them a little swimming pool! Cute Cute!

I kindof wondered if the Vietnamese were learning English with a Southern accent. ;~D Heh...I grew up with some Lebanese Christians that settled here. The 3rd generation have accents more Southern than mine. :)
To: HairOfTheDog
Come to think of it, 2nd generation has a more Southern accent than I.
