The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Benny is pretty loving for a chicken...I have come to searching for your chicken posts to get the early chuckle and start my day, you know. I don't know why. They just always do start me off right.

Morning one and all!
No sounds from corporate as of yet, so we'll see. Scott's right though. Usually, the longer it takes to make a decision, the more it will be in your favor. :)
I saw this cool looking recipe in this month's Family Circle magazine for beer roasted chicken. I'm gonna try and find it online and post it. Maybe I'll try it out this weekend if I get inspired.
On to breakfast! HAPPY FRIDAY!

Hi, Ruthy, hoping for the best with your job. How many people are actually in the office?

Sam, that doensn't sound like it feels real good. Fishbone toe? Hope it's not infected.
My chevy is a '68 Impala 2 door. It was my grandparents last new car. I learned to drive in it. I love it. I will probably hang on to it till it's just a redneck yard vehicle. But, I would like to pick up a '60s model Camaro when I get my finances all straightened out. That's another one of my "plans for how to NOT suffer from empty nest syndrome!" LOL

You can probably get an antique license plate for the Impala. Will the Camaro be a Z-28?

Pirate commercial just showed. I choked on the water I was drinking.I've got the poster of Depp and Bloom hung up in the lunchroom here at work. They really are nice to look at. Bloom has got such big brown puppy eyes. I see why all the tweenies like him. I think I'll see it again tonight, only at the big theater in Corpus, instead of our little cheapy theater here.
We are supposed to go tomorrow to the barrier island across the bay from us and spend the night. Much fun!! There (used to) be pirates (might still be) running through these bays ahidin'. It might be a full moon too?
Lafitte was one I think.

It's only me and my boss, but the powers that be want him to work from home and eliminate my position in order to save $50k / year in costs (my salary, office lease, phone, electric bill, etc.)
It's really ridiculous and bad for the company, but the two fellas who want the change are notorious for getting their way. They're seen as kind of a "mafia duo". It's horrible that the company doesn't get rid of THEM instead. They bring a dark cloud whenever they come around.
My boss made a very good and persuasive argument in his letter though. I hope they see reason and keep things the same. If not, I'll be helping my boss anyway because he is computer-illiterate! It takes him 10 minutes to open his mail.

Whew! Finally made it here! Good morining, those cinnamon rolls look delicious. Any chance of a sitter this weekend? ;-)
To: trini
I can see if Glen will take care of Becky tomorrow and Aly's got a sitter already, but that's only during the day.
I don't think I can get night time babysitting anytime soon. :(

Read this a year or so ago. It tells not only the story of finding the pirate shipwreck right off the Cape Cod beach, but the story of the pirates themselves. Both stories are completely fascinating.
Plus, the guy used a cool boat for the excavation and search, that you'd probably like, Ramius.

There's an interesting analysis of statins
here that might be of use to you. I haven't read his book, but Ravnskov's position is consistent with research that I have read, namely there's something else besides cholesterol going on.
To: RMDupree
I was hoping for night time...maybe next weekend.TGIF, btw!

Interesting, I have to read that in detail when I have time to pay attention. At a glance, it looks like the statisticians are playing games.
I have 2 personal friends who are doctors, they both quote the statistics mentioned here as proof of the danger of cholesterol.
A side point, but related, is that meat eating does not seem to be a cholesterol raiser. Obesity may be, though.
Thanks.
