The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That's sad about your stuff, Ruthy, especially the computer. Has it totally had it?
I actually unplug my computer, and then move the plug a couple feet away from the surge protector this time of year, or when I think lightning will be around. I don't trust the protector enough.

And I'll try not to fly off half-axed. ;-)
To: RMDupree
Oh Ruthy I hope you can piece together a computer to use...

I like your new tagline!!
I spent a while trying to find a cake with a fly on it, but no luck! *grin*
The DVD/VCR can be replaced eventually. I'll treat myself to a new one when I get my tax rebate from Dubya. You can get a cheapie one for around $130 or so these days. The PC is the thing that is hard to swallow.

I still think that is one of the funniest pictures...with that axe sticking out of that orc's head and with that arrow protruding from it! Gimli just has to be scowling at Legolas!
The picture is in the Extended Release, from what I understand...

Sheesh, I missed the part about the computer too. Bummer Ruthy. Hope you can work it out.

I don't have her number, but I sure wish I did. Where is she? *worried frown*

everything was plugged into a surge protector and was off at their individual power sources but they STILL are toast whilst all of the other TVs in the house were on and nothing happened to them!! Weird.
To: SuziQ; Corin Stormhands
HAPPY 29th, you guys!

I won't know until I have the guys at Best Buy look at it. If it's dead, there's nothing I can do anyway, so why cry about it.
All I care about is my hard drive. That's the stuff you DON'T want to lose.
You can be sure that I will be unplugging it completely from now on!

Weird. Not at all, at least in my life! If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!
Right, trin?

I am off to Lowes! My egg door on my coop needs a latch. I think I should be able to put a latch on...
And we need more propane in the "Road Grill".

Perfect!! Where did you find that? :)
Anyhow, I just came back from Best Buy. They said they needed the paperwork or the credit card that was used to purchase the PC. Glen has all of that stuff and who knows where it is. You'd think that in this day and age, in this "paperless" society, they could punch in the serial number and have it all right there at a glance. *sigh*
In any event, they said the machine would have to be shipped to the manufacturer for repair. I don't wanna!!
I'm consoling myself with a McDonald's cheeseburger, fries and sundae.

Beeps said he would take a look at it for you if you want. Did he tell you that when he called?
