The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

What a morning. According to the radar we should have rain falling, but it's not. It is thundering and dark, but no rain. I am suppose to have a few ladies come ride this morning. What to do???. Is it, or isn't it:)? that is the question. They have both called, one canceled one's holding off for an hour then will call back.

Good morning! Looks like it was a slow weekend in the Hole. I see Sam Cree has returned! Welcome back, Sam. How was your birthday!!??
Ramius - check in and let me know you made it home safely as well. I meant to call you this weekend, but between Alyson's birthday party, my dad's presence here from Chicago and this flu bug I'm STILL fighting, I just ran out of time!
I can't ping everyone because I am at home today and my ping list is saved on my work PC. Alyson has a very bad diaper rash and nothing I do seems to work. She's had some stomach problems and I'm going to take her into the pediatrician's office in a few.
*sigh* Let me get breakfast on.

The chicks are doing great. They stayed in the house last night, but are out in the dog crate now. I have to agree with you about the black one, he may not make it. But I have seen him eat and drink, so I'd give him a 50/50 chance. The black ones out of my last batch were smaller and seemed weaker, and they all made it.

I don't know how old you Alyson is, but one time Jenny had a bad diaper rash that I could not get a handle on, so one day I just put a blanket on the floor and let her be a naked all day. I swear that helped a bunch.

Thanks for breakfast, Ruthy! Sorry to hear Alyson isn't feeling well...

I'm back! Looks like the storm is going to break up and not hit us too hard.
Can you believe that rain yesterday? I barely got Jar Jar and Roy back in their coop when the BOTTOM just dropped out and it rained and I mean poured HARD for a solid hour or longer! I had just put the babies in the cooplet and was very worried about them even though I had covered it with a piece of plastic sheeting. When there was a slight break in the rain, I ran out and got them with Matthew's help. Just as we got them out of the cooplet a HUGE bolt of lightening struck just a couple of back yards away and scared us all to death...we went running in the house with the babies and got them settled in. Joshua proceeded to have hysterics in the kitchen...it startled him pretty badly!
Got him calmed down and watched Planet of the Apes...which was ok...but the boys weren't too interested. Kinda weird seeing that Statue of Liberty in the sand, though...I used to think that would just be impossible.

Poor baby...is she having loose stools and it's irritating her bottom? If so, try not to use baby wipes or anything like that, if you can...just soapy warm water, rinsed with plain warm water, use a squirt bottle if you have one. Pat dry. Or you could put her in the kitchen sink with warm water and a bunch of oatmeal...then just grind the oatmeal bathwater down the disposal when she's done.
I can just imagine that a warm oatmeal sink bath would feel heavenly with on a tender bottom! ;-)

So strange. Earlier this morning when you were talking about a bad storm coming thru, and having loud tunder, we were getting nothing. Now when you say it is getting better, it's alot worse here, and we are not that far apart! But it still has not rained. Did it rain at your place this morning?
Becky
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain
No! Not a drop this time, but lots of dark cloud and thunder! The red line of thunderstorms that was heading right toward us has broken up and it's just rainy looking now...but not a drop so far.

We had about our first thunderstorm of the season last night. I couldn't sleep! Kept seeing the flash and counting to see how far away the storm was. At least it cooled things down a little.
I wish it could have happened earlier instead of in the middle of the night. I like watching thunderstorms. Plus I might actually be awake now. That'd be nice.
To: 2Jedismom
That's what I heard. But we must have made it out of Bixby before it hit. When we came out of church they were sounding flood alarms in Tulsa, but it hadn't rained at all. IMO, the weathermen around here are getting alittle too quick to sound severe alarms. Their crying wolf, and people are going to get hurt, because they are going to get where they do not pay attention.

I love them too! I grew up with doozy thunderstorms down near the beach. My favorites are the ones we'd watch roll in off the Gulf while at a beach house...sit on the deck and watch them! You could even see water spouts (which must not be a big a deal as tornadoes, because I never recall anyone getting all that upset at the sight of them.)
They were always kinda fun, because you'd be burned and needing a break anyway and it seemed our A/Cs in the beach houses always worked GREAT!

Thunderstorms are nice in the early morning. Wake up to thunder and cool breezes. IF you can stay in bed. I had to get up this morning so I would be ready to ride:( , and here I sit.

Hi, Ruthy, thanks for breakfast, although in RL I ate cold pizza, good, buy not on my diet.
Sorry I missed the mini moot, looks like it was a particularly good one. Nice picture, too.

Thanks for remembering my birthday, although I am at the age where I'd just as soon forget them. However, I always enjoy calling up my twin brother and telling him Happy Birthday.
Was over on the beach at Estero Island with my fishing club, we were having our annual wives outing. It's extremely pretty over there, good fishing too.
