Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I would not have affection for a people whose mothers would send children to die without a tear.I didn't say they wouldn't shed tears... I just thought it unlikely that they would shed those tears where the children could see them. Not the best way to pump up your young warriors' confidence. I think the scene would have played much better if the mothers had sent their sons off to fight, with brave words... and then, once they were gone, beginning to weep.

That would be great! I'm home alone then, Steve gives the boys swimming lessons on Sunday afternoons.

OK then. I will plan on stopping at your house on our way to evening service. It would probably be around 5:15, we have to be there at 6, and Mack always has to stop at the Quik Trip for a cappachino first:).

But, we've had this argument before, you PJ-bot you. ;)Shya, ask her about editing. Then you'll see that her PJ-Botness is a mile wide but only an inch deep.

Filming Locations - The Paths of the Dead -- New Zealand continues to amaze!
June 26, 2003 - Thursday
Some very cool images of the filming location for the Paths of the Dead sequence in ROTK have surfaced. The location is called Putangirua Pinnacles, and it will be sure to make for some eerie scenes.
A LOTR fan was recently able to embark upon an extensive trip through the LOTR filming locations in New Zealand. You can visit his site HERE. The two most interesting images he took are these:

The character of Faramir was set up perfectly.Perhaps he was, for the movie. But the movie version is very different from the book. In the book, Faramir knows what is right: he rejects ever using the weapons of the Enemy. Once he finds out what the weapon is (the Ring) he must struggle to stay true to what he knows is right, even though he knows it goes against the rule of his father. But, he stays true to his word and lets Frodo go.
In the movie, Faramir doesn't know what is right. He vacillates, first taking Frodo back towards Gondor, and then (once he sees the danger of the Ring) letting him go. Movie Faramir's struggle is to decide what is right; Book Faramir's struggle is to do what is right. Quite a difference, IMO.

Quite the teaser... WHERE DID HE GET THE SWORD?
Haven't seen Narsil yet, someone had to deliver it...
To: 2Jedismom
Yeah, he is glad it is going in, but I'm not, he'll be naggin me everyday to run into town to get him one. Once that one goes in I won't have the excuse that that is just too far to go for a cappo. He whines so pitifully:)
My son is glad too, he heard they are going to sell desiel fuel there. Since total closed he has to go clear to Tulsa to get it. That is stupid too, as much deisel that has to be used in Bixby, with all the farming equip. and all the trucks going to KimberleyClark.
Becky

I bet I know who delivered it!
