Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

'Course, I kind of like the little things. You've gone over to their side? ACK!

That would be the start of the foundation of the house! Woo-hoo! That's great! Congratulations!

Good morning! Gonna be a scorcher out there, by our standards, at least. Or rather a steamer - humidity currently at 90%. UGH!
See the steam?
To: Lil'freeper
They keep the neighbors inside their houses instead of standing around yakking.
Also, cool airplanes, often DC-3's, come around in the evening at treetop level spraying for them.
Plus, I associate them with so many happy memories, of things that count, like fishing trips in the Everglades and Islands.

Glad you finally got your permit, hope things will go well from now on. Looks like a pretty piece of ground.

I associate them with so many happy memories I'm speechless. You've been bitten too many times. ;)

The downside is that they carry some weird diseases, but there are so many thousands (millions, I suppose) flying around here, that the odds of getting one of those seems small.
I have found out that if you spread outboard motor oil all over your body, that mosquitos will not bother you at all.

I have to do house work this morning before I go work my horse, and to 2J's. I belong to a bunko club, and we met here this Thurs. I haven't done anything yet to get ready, excpet mow which I enjoyed:)

outboard motor oilYuk, I can't stand the feel of Off or sun screen, or makeup for that matter on my skin, just the thought of motor oil gives me the shudders:)

[yawn] Good morning! Wasn't sure if I would be able to check in this morning, since the power was off when I woke up. I was just about to take a shower by candlelight when they popped back on, though.

The great thing about using outboard motor oil for this is that it is usually dyed red or green, the Mercury version is blackish blue.
Usually, I go with Off, but if it has been forgotten, there is usually oil handy somewhere. 'Course, my boats are usually equipped with plenty of repellent, but sometimes you are fishing with someone else.
I believe drinking lots of grapefruit juice helps a little as well, if you drink enough so that you smell like one when sweating.
I am more bothered by the no seeums than mosquitos, they hurt when they bite, since I believe they do it by pouring acid on your skin which turns it into liquid, so they can then suck it up.
No seeums hate smoke, but I quit smoking.

Morning.
My shower will not work without electricity, though.
What day are you heading out?

Today, in a few hours. My ride is coming in an hour, and we're getting some breakfast on the way to the airport.
To: ecurbh
Have a great trip then.

Well I'm not sure if it works without power, because I ended up not having to find out. The water was nice and hot though, so I don't think the power was off too long.

Thanks.
