The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Portland is a nice city, as cities go.
I am not really awake.... kindof in that groggy half-sleep. Waiting to put the horses to bed and then I am off to bed official-like.

Hair; good luck on the trip into the dark lands; remember when you meet the nine, the fellowship is with you. Thank you, it will make it more bearable that you are with me.

Hi! I should be asleep, but I'm too wound up from the drive, coffee and junk food...

Not the Harry Morgan actor...the Harry Morgan fishing captain character from Key West in the book "To Have and Have Not," written in the 1930's.
I suppose the actor may have took his name from the book character.

Hmm, a quick look on IMDB shows that the actor Harry Morgan was born in 1915, and shows no record of changing his name. And, he didn't start his film career until the 1940s, so I guess the two names are just a coincidence!

Thank you. I will do all those things.
Thank you for your medical knowledge too. I am shocked to say that I have made it through all this the last 2 weeks with no puking or gagging. (surprise for me)
She developed quite a large bedsore and this last 4 days I have assisted the therapist in dressing it. It felt much better doing that than just sitting in the room like a bump on a log. And the feeding tube didn't freak me out in the least. I was thinking about it driving home. I think it must just be that because it's Grama I want to do stuff for her so badly that I don't think about it.

Thank you too ecurbh. I really appreciate all prayers. I am positively certain that somebody must be praying for me now because otherwise I'd be a basketcase.

Thanks Corin, I am going to have to do some catching up when I get this all over with. I noticed you'd been on a trip but I haven't got the details yet. It looked good on my comments page. I will hear more later.

Yeah - Always takes me awhile to settle down after a trip. Horses are fed now and I may be off to bed.

"so I guess the two names are just a coincidence! Yeah, I had no idea the actor was that old, he is a contemporary of the book character.
Good night Bear and All.

That was a gift, that she could still be with you this week.... Animated and talking, amazing. Quite right!!!
I do think I forgot to mention that there were a couple of instances of morphine stories involved. She got mixed up during a conversation just as her morphine was really taking charge one night and started trying to tell me I had a big sister! (I am the oldest and only have brothers) My mom was standing there - my mom was the one she was trying to say was my big sister. Mom, the nurse and I all 3 had a good laugh at Grama's expense. Grama grimaced when she figured out what she'd said. She was thinking that Mom, me, and both my kids were all 4 sisters because we are all 4 her babies. LOL It was precious even because she realized it and realized she was dopey and laughed too.

Gosh there was a lot of ya'll still up tonight after all. I had to switch between here and getting out emails about Grama. I think I've touched my bases in communication tonight and now need to go to bed so I can get tomorrow under way. Blessings everyone.

Well, I'm going to try to get some sleep. I got pinged over to the religion wars (for a Harry Potter comment, no less), but they're startin' to annoy me and ruin the warm fuzzies I'm still feelin' from the weekend.
g'nite.
To: Wneighbor
Will be thinking of you and your Grama. Hope you can get some rest before you travel back down there. When you do, hope you have a safe drive!
Good night...
To: Wneighbor
Thanks for checking in, prayers for Grama and you guys.
Good night, All.
