The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Aragorn - Gollum - Gandalf - Arwen - Sam & Frodo

Hey guys, leo here. Over the past two days I have been getting a lot of emails from people who want to know where they can buy the ROTK calendar that features these pictures. Instead of replying to everyone who emailed I will just say here: these calendars are not meant for sale. They are promotional items only which means they are meant for people in the movie business only. To the best of our knowledge there is no place online where you could buy them and we don't have them either (though if someone wants to give me theirs I won't mind, heheh...) Just to clear that up...

Hey, the thing is about Faramir and Eowyn...really...it's going to be great for those that love a mushy love story, because in the book, things are pretty heated between the two (or as heated as Tolkien seems to allow things...) Think about it...he practically sputters around her! LOL He smooches on her, gives her his mother's midnight blue cloak...

‘Then, Éowyn of Rohan, I say to you that you are beautiful. In the valleys of our hills there are flowers fair and bright, and maidens fairer still; but neither flower nor lady have I seen till now in Gondor so lovely, and so sorrowful. It may be that only a few days are left ere darkness falls upon our world, and when it comes I hope to face it steadily; but it would ease my heart, if while the Sun yet shines, I could see you still. For you and I have both passed under the wings of the Shadow, and the same hand drew us back.’[JRR Tolkien, The Return of the King, Book VI, Chapter V]
Now if that doesn't just curl your toes, I don't know what does (although it's the oldest trick in the book and Eowyn saw right through it...)

ROFLOL!!! I know!! LOL

I remember thinking when I read that part when I was in high school (prior to that I don't think I really understood what was going on...you know) but I remember thinking "WHAT ARE YA OUTTA YOUR MIND???"

Eowyn was always my favorite though...

Aragorn was born in 2931. Faramir was born on 2983 and Eowyn was born on 2995. So Aragorn was sixty somthing years older than Eowyn and Faramir was what? Nine years older??

Good morning! I stayed up wayyyy too late playing AoE against my brother...and using Bear's strategy tips, I creamed him. One question, though - I keep getting to the Bronze age and getting stuck. I have all the food and gold to advance, but the little advance button is still greyed out. I know I have to build buildings, but I've built at least one of every building I have in my list. I THINK I did ever research item possible, though I'm not sure I completely understand the process. My brother had farms and such, but I never figured out how to do those. Is there something I'm missing? Does it sound like I need to reinstall?

Went on my first dispatch this morning. Easy one - swapping a CD-ROM drive. I'm useful!

Maybe Eowyn was looking for a sugar daddy.

I think I like my D Meg after all. It plays in the second octave better than my Clarke original. I was playing all 3 of my D's last night with the Starkindler CD and the Meg and the Feadog seemed more on pitch with the CD than the Clarke original.

Personally, I'd like a great blue mantle the colour of a deep summer-night, and set with silver stars about the hem and throat.

I'm not an Elf, I'm not a Dwarf or even a Hobbit...I'm just a plain Woman (with impeccable taste!)

I will try to get that message to Steve in time for your birthday!
