Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

But what he doesn't know is that it has been sunny and hot in Seattle. Surely this is a sign of the end of the world. But I didn't read about this in the Left Behind series...

rainy and cool on the east coast, hot and dry on the west
hrm...maybe we're experiencing polar shift?

Morning!
I finally got Becky to bed last night by forcibly placing her into bed with me and throwing one arm over her until she fell asleep at midnight. LOL! More stubborn a child the world will not find! SHEESH!
Breakfast is on!

Safe journey, Hair!
Welcome back Lil' freeper!
Sam Cree - you've been missed around here! Stop by more often when you can. :)
OT - LOL at The Dip!

Morning Ruthy. Thanks for breakfast.
We've had nights like that with Jr. So far none with Luke. I still embarrass Jr. with these stories:
We lived in a small apartment until he was five (we moved to Richmond). In his threes he started the temper tantrum business. He'd start throwing a fit while we were dressing him for bed. So I would just stop where ever I was and leave.
One night (it was hot, all the windows were open), I left and he spent 10-15 minutes on his bed screaming "I don't have any clothes on!!!!"

Lots and lots of coffee!
I'm trying to cut back on sugar, so I went out and bought some Splenda and Fat-free Vanilla Coffeemate for my morning brew.
UGH! I choked down half a cup and now I can't get rid of this horrid aftertaste in my mouth from the Splenda. *shudder*
I'll try to stick it out though. Sugar is one of the main reasons I can't shed the middle paunch!

It works on my last nerve, lemme tell ya!
At first, I would sit and explain to her why it was so important to get a good night's rest, blah blah blah to no avail. Then, I went through the "award system" where she got a sticker for every night she went to bed when told and after a certain number of stickers were collected, she'd get a prize. That lasted all of 2 weeks before she decided that staying up was more fun!
Now, since the poor thing has no bedroom of her own, she basically bounces around the house until 10 o'clock at which time I beg her to come to my bed and go to sleep. She makes up every excuse in the book (I gotta pee, I'm thristy, it's hot, my foot itches, whatever) to avoid laying still.
I can't wait for her to start school in the fall so that maybe she'll have burned enough steam to actually feel tired. The main problem is that she's cooped up all day with nothing to do.

Luke's usually tired enough to lie down and go to sleep. But sometimes he wants to play. So we'll let him either "read" or play.
But we still have his room gated off since he's at the top of the stairs. His room is child proof, so he's okay. When he's ready, he'll get in bed and go to sleep.
But the key is the containment. If he could get out and come to our room or downstairs, he would in a heartbeat.
To: Corin Stormhands
You're right.
It's tough since she doesn't have her own room. If I put her in the room with Alyson, she'll just keep the baby up. And if I gate her with me in my room, she'll stay awake and make a fuss anyway with all of her excuses and the WHINING! Grrrr! And forget about gating her with my mom!
Once Alyson is a bit older, they'll be sharing a room, but for now...patience is a virtue in my home!
