The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That's a pretty sobering flick. Yeah. I think moreso than other combat movies I've seen. I think I need to watch it again before I send it back.
(Hello. Good morning)

Cool story and pictures.
Have you thought of putting up a hummingbird feeder? They learn to come there pretty quickly. Dad's got one up at the house. It amazes me how many varieties of hummingbirds we have here!
To: g'nad
Oh, and I'm very pleased with the Buff Orpingtons I got from Cackle. Very healthy and active. I hope you are just as pleased with your guineas.

Despite yer crusty shell, yer just an old softie...
(pretty cool about the hummingbird)
To: RosieCotton
got one up... we're thinkin' 'bout puttin' up another... they fight constantly over it... I think they little guy we saved kept losin' so he was starvin'...
To: g'nad
Poor little guy!
Glad he perked right up after a meal!
To: 2Jedismom
Your paint job was cute:)
Tell Lisa hatching eggs is NOT an exact science. I tried to turn eggs at set times, but it rarely happened:) You can even miss once in a while. The eggs/chicks are pretty tuff.
Hope it is nothing serious with Josh. Probably all the rain we have had has made the mold high.
Mack wants to know if you are ready for the second coming:)? (Bixby Green Corn Festival)

I have never been to the Green Corn Festival! Is it any good?

LOL...Mack equates it to how the second coming will be for Bixbians:)
We use to run the Bixby Round Up Club, and the club always did a rodeo then, so we were around the workings of it for many years.
How long have you lived in Bixby?
On the Thurs. night that it starts it's family night. Pay one price and kids ride all night. Everyone sits around Charlie Young Park, listening to live Gospel Music, eating Corn on the Cob and funnel cakes. We haven't missed one for 14-15 yrs. Sat. moring they have frog jumping contest, turtle races, 1 legged sack races, watermelon seed spitting contests, hog calling, in the street, a parade we use to ride in with the club.
It is not as good as it use to be, maybe that's because we've gotten older:) Mack always took Jenny with a turtle to the races. I was usually sleepinging in because the rodeo on Fri. lasted so late. The old men from the Optimist club are the ones that get excited, I guess they have to to get anyone to go. It's something to do:)

Mack

Well, maybe we'll meet you up there when you are sitting around. Steve could take the boys on the rides...I'm not to big on stuff like that, but he is!
We've lived here 4 years.
Joshua's doc appt is at 11am.

Good morning, Hair! It's nice out there today!

And my Dad is upset 'cause he borrowed my car briefly yesterday and managed to side swipe my brothers car as he was backing out of the driveway. Put about a five inch scrape on the bumper. I already had a few other scrapes, so I'm not worried...but he is.
It's an old car and paid for. Who cares?
To: RosieCotton
Your Dad borrowed and scratched your car? What a role reversal! Poor guy, I bet he does feel bad.

Your Dad borrowed and scratched your car? What a role reversal! Heh...yeah, don't think I don't see the irony in the situation!
Like I said, though, I'VE bumped things with it...plus it already has minor hail damage...and a yucky touched-up spot that someone who had it before me did. Looks like they used nail polish! I doubt that's really the case, but it's ugly.
So it's not a pristine car!
To: g'nad
I knew a lady who kept putting more feeders out. The more she put the more birds she got:) It was so cool to watch. She said (I never saw this) if the feeders got emptied they would tap on her window. Do you think that is true? The lady was pretty old, she was a customer we had when we ran a trash route. She always had us come in for coffee, or water, depending on the time of year.

Good morning and sorry I'm late. My boss is back so there's lots to do around here. :)
HAPPY BELATED FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OF OUR HOLE DWELLER DADS!! I made a special breakfast with the fellas in mind, but I don't think we ladies will complain! :)

Osagebowman - welcome back! Have some breakfast. I'm sure your travels have earned you an appetite.
Dawntreader - thanks for checking in. Oh and I know what you mean about dial-up, I live with the pain every day!
2J - awesome looking coop! Looks better than some of the playhouses I had as a kid. LOL!
WN - prayers continue for you and your family. Grammy is hanging tough and so should you! Love ya, chica!
Hair - I certainly hope to one day see that beach house in person. I'd love to see the "other" ocean, rather than the same one I've stared at for years. *grin*
Sam Cree - the mosquitos are truly awful this year. Not only that, but it's terrible to walk out of my house at 8am and start sweating the instant I am 2 feet from the door. This heat and humidity is the worst I can recall!
OT - I can't wait to see the Flat Frodo pics. *clapping hands*
g'nad - look at that sweet hummingbird. Poor lil' guy! And who says Dwarves have no heart?!
