Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I agree that it makes sense that PJ would need a break. My concern is that Ian Holme is not getting any younger, if you get my meaning. How will he be able to play a younger Bilbo?
Unless they replace him and we can't stands that. No, my Precious...we can'ts standssss when they switches thosse nassssty Hobittses on ussss.

I think Ian Holm is already too old to play the younger Bilbo.... But they can do amazing things with makeup, prosthetics and trickery, so who am I to say?
If he waited ten years, Elijah Wood could do it.

Maybe that should be our next Hobbit Hole poll....who should play the younger Bilbo in The Hobbit? Only I watch mostly old movies so I'm not sure whom to nominate nowadays.

I think our elf-dwarf wars got a little bit too rowdy.I don't know, I think Corin just has a LOT on his plate. Let's just keep praying for him and hopefully his life will get back to normal and he can join us again.

Yeah....that's probably it.
To: HairOfTheDog; Overtaxed
I guess that Elijah could do it, with a light haired wig, etc.
I'd love to see the "original" Bilbo though. So much more authentic to a documentary, if you will.

I thought if they could make Elijah look old enough or "Bilbo" enough, that it would be a nice full circle, since Ian Holm played Frodo in the BBC radio production! It seems fitting!
Does Ian Holm have a son?

Did anything bad happen in chat last night?
On another note, should we come up with a "Hobbit Hole" tagline for when we are out and about the rest of FRee Republic?

Don't know if he has a son. I'd have to do a search for a bio on him.
Yet, now that you put that "full circle" spin on it - I'm pretty keen to that idea!
Can they find a way to put Sean Astin in it though? Tee hee!

I had a little temper tantrum over the elf bashing. Screaming "I HAVE HAD IT"! but that is about it, until I left.

We could follow ksen's lead and put "HH" in it or maybe:
"HHD" for Hobbit Hole Dweller
I think it should be short enough that (if needed) we can add something to it.

I've been playing Age of Empires. However, I'm not sure I like it much. I spend most of my time yelling at my characters. They are soooo stupid! It's a game where you kinda play God: make people (starting with the stone age), and tell them what to do as they advance through the ages. However, as soon as any civilizations other than my own develop enough to attack me, I get crushed. I'm good at the fishing, hunting and food gathering parts...not so good at fighting.

What's The Great Race? Aggggghhhh!!!! :)
To: Overtaxed
I can't quote it, but I've at least seen it.
