Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh my, I thought the War of Northern Aggression was only a modern age thing. I didn't realize it went all the back to the Third-Age as well.

Corin, I've never heard of anyone hating Robert E. Lee before. Are those people just weird, or did I grow up in a vacuum. Trashing Lee is like trashing a founding father.

Now I am getting the error too. It kind of appears to be some kind of DNS error, because I get in when I use the IP address:

Yeah, I just got the Apache page when I tried it this AM.

I was just about to suggest a DNS error, because I saw an IP address flash in the address box of my browser, just before it changed to the "www.hobbit-hole.net" address.
A DNS error would help explain the haphazard nature of the error, too.
By the way, I can't get into any of your pages... still getting the "you have successfully" page.

I've never heard of anyone hating Robert E. Lee before. Oh Sam. Right here in the Capital of the Confederacy we had a mural of Lee firebombed and destroyed. Hate for the good General abounds. It is the product of the politically correct and of the liberals.
I don't go around waving the Confederate flag. In fact I think the only one I own is post card size and is framed with a copy of Lee's farewell address.
What these people don't understand is that no one is promoting slavery. It's a recognition of history and heritage. It's a recognition of our ancestors. They made a lot of mistakes and some of their views were antiquated.
But Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis were men of integrity and honor, just as U.S. Grant and Abraham Lincoln were. The mistake comes in juding the men and women of 1862 by the standards of 2003. It just doesn't fit.

And sadly Bear, many of those racists are indeed on the side of the south. Most southern white boys have a latent "rebel yell gene" that flares up when challenged.
But what gripes me most is the assertion that this is (and was) only a southern problem. That's just ignorance.
Okay. I'll stop now.
Since it looks like some folks are still having problems accessing the new forum, I'll take the liberty of posting this AWESOME find!
I've already claimed the Harfoot lass (obvious by the Dwarven influence aka her shield and horn) but everyone else is up for grabs.
I simply saved it to my hard drive as a bmp file, cropped out everything but the head and shoulders of the halfling, and then saved it as a jpg file. From there, you just resize the photo down to less than 97x97 pixels and save to your desktop. You can upload it as your avatar once you access your profile. :)
I've already cropped all of the ladies, so if any of you gals want one..let me know! I'll send it to your e-mail addy.
