Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

To tell you the truth, I prefer our birthday customs over the Hobbits'. :) I know it's better to give than to receive... but receiving can be a lot more fun. ;)

I'll probably bring you some when I come. It's too much feed. I did manage to get it all in the fridge out there (it's where I keep my popcorn, I buy it 50lbs at a time too...)

And, I don't think he would have been very interested in the Internet, either. Oh, I dunno. Certainly there's a lot of non-sense on the web. But chat rooms and threads like ours are roughly the equivalent of the pubs of Tolkien's day. ('cept you couldn't go to a pub in your underdrawers...)
