Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I call the roll of extra tummy the "marsupial pouch" because that is what's left from carrying the baby. *grin*

and who cared? we were too busy out in the street playing kickball, or in the backyard playing house, or climbing trees, or whatever. my kids think i'm NUTS when I say, let's go outside and DO something.
I did buy us all bikes this spring and we really enjoy a nice evening bikeride.

You know where I would tell him to put those pesky three pounds? Again, since he weren't wearin' no shorts I wasn't goin' there...
To: RMDupree
yeah, i've got a little extra skin there myself .. hee hee

I think I know one young lady who has bulemia, from a desire to be thin.
But, IMO, watching sugar intake, and, as proud_2_B_texasgal and Hair have mentioned, some exercise, ought to be enough for most kids.
Now that you guys mention it, I know another young lady, in her 20's who is so thin it seems crazy. scrawny. It probably is an obsession.
Maybe there is something in what you are saying. Is it really a serious and pervasive problem. I am often oblivious to stuff like this.

that is correct.

I think so too, that's a relief, wasn't sure where you were going. Sorry I wasn't clearer. In a nutshell I think today's standards of beauty, set by whomever, are absurd. I don't think too highly of women who strive for the ideal and simultaneously complain that they aren't taken seriously (FR's Elvira for instance). And finally, I sympathize with the men who are left scratching their heads in confusion trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

I just read that a plus-size model has to wear at least a size 8. A SIZE EIGHT!!!??? That's PLUS-SIZE????!!! Good heavens. I think I'm going to go jump off a cliff. That is INSANE!!!

Well hopefully the general public has a different perception of beauty than the fashion world.
But I think the camera tends to add a pound or two, which confuses things even more.

Hi PJ!
Them sound like some mighty fine sleepin' shirts to me!

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I got to watch the Mars Lander take off early this afternoon. They have the countdown on Rush's station and when they get to "0" I step outside the building I work in and about 10 seconds later I can see the rocket ascending.
This one was pretty spectacular.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I got to watch the Mars Lander take off early this afternoon. Is this the one where they took up the kid's names? I've got a certificate with Jr's name on it around somewhere. Can't remember if it was this mission or another, it's been a couple of years.
