Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

(darn computer screen locked up...)
MM would wear a size 16 today.
Remember when Barbara Bush basically told off all the people criticizing her for not being a size 4 like Nancy? She said something like "I'm a grandmother, for heaven's sake." I think she was a size 16 and may have mentioned Marilyn.

Oooooh, I'd love to take that woman to lunch... and make her eat ALL of it. No woman can be that skinny and be healthy. I pity any children she might have.

Behold the lady (sic) who'd be relegated to today's "PLUS SIZE" department.

OK .. help me understand where where you're going with this statement?? lol What does her size have to do with her children?
To: Corin Stormhands
Spectacular Bid!! OH, noooooooooooo.

"My own theory concerning the trend towards fashion models who look like adolescent boys involved the preponderance of gay male designers in the fashion industry. I could be wrong though."
Ack!
Does make sense, though.

For some reason, Eatern architecture has a certain appeal...
To: Lil'freeper
Lil'freeper, the lady in #64 doesn't look either like a boy or like Barbara Bush.
To: Sam Cree
Yeah, well, now that ya'll mention it, WHY do we let a bunch of gay men decide how we should dress? Maybe it's a conspiracy .. they are JEALOUS of the female body .. hee hee

BWA HA HA HA .. too funny!

I believe that Lil'freeper is trying to say that someone who strives to be thin at the expense of their health may do the same when they are pregnant, thus harming their baby.
I actually think it's the opposite! I've noticed some women in my family who were painfully thin until they had children - now they are bigger than everyone else! The discovered how much they liked food! LOL!
I try to give Ann Coulter the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to a fast metabolism, but the truth is - she is VERY thin. I've seen some pics where she appears almost skeletal.
Barbara Olson was, IMHO, beautiful both inside and out. I met her in Palm Beach during a convention shortly before she was murdered on 9/11. SHe was attractively built, but not thin. *sigh* I miss her!

That thing of Bear's about gay fashion designers rings a bell so loud. I think it's because it's so clear to me that men do not want their women looking like boys. And I can't imagine where women would have gotten such a weird idea.
Speaking as someone who just brought up a boy and a girl, their bodies were quite different even as kids, though certainly the differences became much more pronounced later.
Yes, the female body is a thing of beauty, curves, and also angles, not to mention the way it articulates.

I am thin .. and used to be thinner. I could eat anything, anytime, and not gain weight. (pretty much the same now, but i'm just holding at a few pounds heavier than before kids)
Both my kids were 8 lbs .. and plus. The only prob I had was that I could NOT eat and drink enough to breastfeed. I was back down below my pre-preg weight in less than 3 weeks and couldn't produce the milk.
Some women don't TRY to be that thin .. and thin women can have big, healthy babies.
Is Ann Coulter a model as well as a news commentator? Do we know if she TRIES to be that thin? I bet she's just got the 'curse' .. like me. **grin**
