The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yep I've seen it. I liked it ok, but not as much as First Contact. I think that was one of the best ones.
I did read a while back (can't remember what magazine) that the crew and cast were rejuvinated by the script and everything that they would be willing to do another movie if it did well. I'm not crossing my fingers, but I would love to see another one.

Are the people nice? Is the work interesting? - Can you tell yet? The people are nice! They even took me out for lunch! I'll be happier when I can actually help instead of feeling, like Pippin, than I'm "small ragtag". I think I'll enjoy the work, too.

HAHAHAHAAA!!
That's what happened to me too!
I found the key and the deed and finally, the front door, but then I wandered about trying to find the S-B's and that's when I ran into Sandyman looking for the metal pin.
I found Freddy (Fatty) Bolger's place, but nothing happens when you go to the door. Doesn't even offer me a seedcake. Harumph! Rude Hobbit!
I'm getting sort of discouraged at this point because I just found out that my home PC does not allow you to upgrade your video memory. So, that leaves my work PC that keeps giving me that error message. ARRRGGHH!
Maybe I should try playing it at 16bit color instead of 32k at home. The graphics won't be as pretty, but maybe it will stop skipping and freezing so much. Hmmmm...

I'm glad your new job is working out! That's great after everything you went through getting this job. ;^)

Ok...it's been a bit since I last played it. The SB's were who you were supposed to give the deed to, right? You have to leave the Shire. You take a road past the mill and it leads you into town. I discovered it after spending forever wandering around that first screen and not finding them. So I finally headed out and lo and behold there was more town.

Why is that, I wonder? (Cold weather making you hungry.)
Maybe the human body is crying out for fat stores and reserves to help us keep warm. Tee hee! I'll take any excuse, won't I?

Yes, the deed and key must be given to the S-B's to complete that "quest". I took the road past the mill (running into Sandyman and snaiging another mushroom from under a tree), and that's when it froze. It did say I was going into Bywater, so that must be where I can find the S-B's.
I'm getting more and more frustrated just thinking about how much I want to play it and neither computer is cooperating!

Maybe the human body is crying out for fat stores and reserves to help us keep warmI think there is some truth to that...I'm sure we burn more calories when it is cold.

We just got this PC, remember? Boy, when Glen finds out that I can't upgrade the video card, he's going to be sooooo steamed.
I didn't plan on doing any serious gaming on it, so it wasn't a feature I looked for. If I had known that Glen was going to spend over 50 bucks on this game, believe you me - I would have gotten the big boy with controllers and the whole nine yards!
Oh well. If I can figure out what is causing the error message here at work, I'll be in good shape. This PC has a 16MB video card in it! *grin*
Maybe Bear will know?

Define "cold", Sam.... How cold is it there?

"? Do you have such thoughts everytime you measure something?"
No...I am sorry :-)
To: RMDupree
"I'm getting more and more frustrated just thinking about how much I want to play it and neither computer is cooperating!"I hear ya. I have a game I bought without thinking and my 8MB/24 bit color video card won't play it! So I have to wait for a patch to come out (which it will, just not sure when) or upgrade my video card. I should upgrade my video card because I want to get Unreal Tournament 2003 but I know that won't work on my video card because the demo wouldn't work :-( Computers upgrade way too fast lol

Okay so I'll remember not to refer to long thin objects or any dimensions at all. :)

It was 51 this morning, now about 58 or so, I guess. But it is very humid and damp, as always in Miami, with our prevailing onshore breezes, which exaggerates the temp. Anyhow, I am feeling chilled.

You know, a joke's a joke and fun is fun, but you're getty really tiresome. That does sound kind of harsh. You alright today? Your wife didn't answer the phone again did she?

I am almost positive that Best Buy will not allow us to return an opened game, so what is left for me to do?
Maybe there is a patch I can download. *sigh*
Glen has a Playstation (the first one) and I'm pretty sure that they don't make this game (or something like it) for that console. I hope I win a GameCube or PS2 in one of the sweepstakes I entered. I just won Glen a GameBoy Advance, but I can't play it because the tiny graphics drive me bananas!
