The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well, someone was tryin' to matchmake for Hair. But I know the kid...he's not her type and his age has nothing to do with it...
To: Corin Stormhands
Yeah. I was watching that. He only wishes he could turn her head!

Well, I did, but everyone started checking in anyways, so I figured you might as well too!
That's it...except for some info from one more person, I have a complete list of contributors.
The chaplain asked about you, Ecurb...wanted to know if you were the only new contributor...so I bet you're going to get the letter soon.

They still don't get to have the life I had...roaming the neighborhood with a bunch of fairly decent friends and playing in "the weeds" where we'd eat dewberries till we were stuffed. All by ourselves, no one supervising...just roaming around having fun.
I don't leave my kids in the front yard alone.
To: 2Jedismom
Well, they aren't very old yet either. They'll get to roam...

Not in this neighborhood. Half the houses are rentals and you never get to know your neighbors. The lady next door is the one that had the collapsed septic sewer that Bear drank out of (not you, Bear). The people across the street are nice, but their boy that is a year younger than Matthew just failed first grade and here Matthew is starting 4th...they have nothing in common.
All of Matthew's friends are a long ways off...we all get together to let them play in the park during the summers.
To: HairOfTheDog
Hey, guess what happened this evening?? I went to get a pair of blue jean shorts for Matthew at Walmart and when I went to check out, a couple of young men (20s) was checking out in front. What they had bought was in a sack already, but I thought it looked like popsicles or something. Well, their credit card wouldn't work and they left. I considered offering to just buy the popsicles for them but the inspiration didn't come fast enough and they were gone. The lady that checked me out pulled the item out of the sack to be returned to the shelf and it was HILLARY CLINTON'S BOOK!!! No kidding, I nearly fell over laughing! The woman that was checking me out said "Sorry to make you wait" and I said "Are you KIDDING??? This made my whole evening!" Guys couldn't buy Hillary's book because their credit card was bad! Ha!

Half the houses are rentals and you never get to know your neighbors. Well, it would help if you would answer the door! [ducking]
Don't be so sure Matthew won't have anything in common with the boy next door. They might have bikes, or favorite movies, or frogs, or eventually, girls.

They do get together and play now and then...
I'm going to bed! I have to get the kids to VBS bright and early. I got my dad's cell phone, so that means I can freep and not worry about being online in case of an emergency. So, I'll see you in the morning!
