The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You couldn't come up with an herb raising facility between your house and THE house? My friend who does it says I could do it nicely on my 3/4 acre at my old house. You need some sunny area, some shady area, and a greenhouse. At least so JoAnn tells me. And she's been doing this for years. I'm just too chicken about taking chances.

I can't stand the notion that medication is the first answer for everything that happens without even investigating circumstances. One of the reasons I don't want to work in the pharmaceutical industry.
On the lighter side, I always like to eat high cholesterol food before a physical so I can freak the doctor out on cholesterol levels....hehehe.
To: Wneighbor
Yes I suppose I could. But then there's all that marketing stuff that I don't want to do.

Phoenix is a pit, imho and I think the Scottsdale crowd is a bit snobby for my taste... Well admittedly, other than when I was working at the school (this was 1980, and what did I know?), we were staying at some of the finer resorts (I miss that job!), so the snobbery fit us. Perhaps living there would be different and we'd want to be, as you say, further out.
(hullo, we are back from the furniture move...)

Mmmmm... two quarter pounders with bacon, pepperjack cheese and all the trimings (sans bun). God bless Dr. Atkins. Curse you Michael Thurmond!

One of the reasons I don't want to work in the pharmaceutical industry. In one of those bizarre twists of nature I actually started out as a pharmacology major. And it was the '70's and I found I could make more money using the knowledge on the streets than if I finished college. Which was why I quit college the first time. And "cooked."
The bizarre twist is, now the pendelum has swung completely in the other direction and I just almost refuse to take any kind of medication other than aspirin which I take for joint pain. The more I found out and knew about pharmaceuticals the less I want to do with them. I really believe that's what has happened to my Grama in the last 4 years.
HEH, I still think it would be fun to work for one of them though. Just not put any in my body.

Wow, and it's not even 4 yet. He's only 2 hours late??? Actually, he's like a Wizard...he arrived just on time. The trip down was nasty though. Rain and traffic. Couldn't figure out the traffic, but we saw a sign that said "expect 10-20 minute delays in Hampton Roads Tunnel." Unfortunately it took us another hour to get to the tunnel, but once we were there, it cleared up. I think it was the traffic heading to the Outer Banks. What a crappy week to go to the beach...
BTW we saw four (I think that's what we counted) carriers in Hampton Roads. I think the Roosevelt is back and I'm assuming one of them is the Reagan. Don't know about the other two.

Yes I suppose I could. But then there's all that marketing stuff that I don't want to do. Yeah, me too. And I think if I did that then gardening might cease to be my hobby - I might not enjoy it any more.

The way the light plays across the mountains throughout the day is lovely. We couldn't quite see that through the rain when we were there.

I can already see after looking at your first 2 links that we are on the same nutritional wavelength. LOL Good to know. it's been said i'm a nut about my food. but most of the ones that said it weren't as healthy as me. it's just been bugging me about that cholesterol letter.

I really believe that's what has happened to my Grama in the last 4 years. Yeah...the same with my grandmother. I think they really do overmedicate the elderly. And I wonder if they do that especially in nursing homes just because it makes it easier to deal with them.
The only medications I use are aspirin and cold medicine.

As well as a lot of the other parent games. Look at it as your daily aerobics!!! When Jr. was little, he had a sleeper that said "Daddy's little workout..."
That was 80....well now actually 30 lbs ago...

Glad you're back and moved. I thought b-i-l was supposed to be at your house at 11. My central time post said 11:55 when you left. That's why I thought he was late.
A lady at my chuch in Waco will be happy if the Reagan is there. That means her boy!!

Had yet another yummy Atkins lunch... Dang, I'm gonna give this a try again. You're eating a lot better than I did on Atkins. Is it because you're further along in the program and I didn't give it enough time?
Maybe rice and potatoes aren't all that great if I can have ice cream and blueberries...

A good long happy marriage, we've got 19 to go equal them, Good Lord willing. Wow, but 31 is pretty darn good! We hit 17 this year (if raising Jr. doesn't kill us first...)
