The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I can't find it. I saw some close-up shots that I know were that scene, but none with him on the orc.
Wn, yes, print it and tape it inside the box.
You can leave out the "box" jokes...

How about some beef jerky, or cards? Yeah, I was thinkin' cards. And maybe even some poker chips? The beef jerky is a good idea too.

Did I tell you guys that my daughter has volunteer training at a stable that gives handicapped children(my daughter is not handicapped, BTW) riding lessons? She is very psyched about actually having the chance to be around and work with horses. She will be 13 in September and has been ga-ga over horses since she was old enough to know horses existed.
I hope this is a good experience for her. As a bonus the owner of the stables says she keeps a record of the girls' volunteer hours and logs them as community service. That will come in helpful when she starts looking into college scholarships down the road.

Very cool, ksen. It'll be a multiple blessing for her. She'll get to be around the horses, she'll be sooo blessed by the kids, AND get community hours credit ..
She sounds like a neat kid.

Good for our little ALL-STAR!!!

I think it's awesome. Good note about this, you know when you pray, it's mostly pretty serious stuff? Well, I've been adding in sometimes, "God, it would be really nice if in addition to the safety and provision you could just let Tom sleep in a palace some night" So! This is such cool news to me!!! God heard that one!!! And Tom is sleeping there regularly. :-) He is so good.
I have sent beef jerky both times I sent stuff. Cards are a good idea. I am making a list from these suggestions. That goes on it.
Another question that might be answered appropriately by one of you guys with a military background. I make beef jerky much more economically than purchased. But, of course it is not packaged and stuff with the same kind of preservative plan. I have wondered how my home-made beef jerky would hold up to (now at least 3 weeks) shipping and the heat of that country. Any notions on that?

That will be very fun for her, and I think she will learn a lot about horses and about people working there!
To: ksen
That's an awesome thing ksen. My oldest used to volunteer in facilities for the mentally handicapped. It will definitely help with scholarships AND it will develop her as a loving caring human being. Even make her appreciate more the blessing of being healthy. VERY good thing.

I agree with you, God is good. I almost think it is a greater example of His love towards us when He answers the little things we ask instead of the BIG, HUGE things we dump on Him.
