Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good morning! I can't wait to see the pictures!
The packages I sent to Afghanistan last week should be arriving there any day now...they usually take between 9 and 13 days...tomorrow will be the 9th day.
These are the ones with the books and the Slim Jims and Tang.
To: g'nad
GPS numbers will do, thanks.

I know I'm pretty amazing. But I really do have no control over the weather... yeah... if he had those amazing powers over time and space, do you really think he'd be stuck in that lousy, dead-end, life sucking endeavor he calls a job?...
To: g'nad
Nah. Next time we'll just call OnStar...

"it does a number on snakes..."
That's good, I don't like snakes a whole hell of a lot.

wait just a moment...

How's this for a movie title, "Corin Almighty?"

Hey everyone! Breakfast is ready! *rings porch bell*

Hair and ecurbh - great work on the Flat Frodo maps! What a terrific idea!
g'nad - I just sat with my jaw hanging when I read about the "sanke". *shudder* I'm so glad nobody got bitten! And VERY nice shootin', by the way. CRIKEY! Ain't she a beauty! *grin* Oh and as far as a dog goes, Rhodies are terrific, but I don't know if they are hypo-allergenic. A standard or giant schnauzer and the port water dog are great choices, but they require some clipper work to keep their coats neat.
Sam Cree - prayers your way for whatever is troubling you!
WN - just to clarify, I do believe in the power of faith healing. My skepticism rests on Benny Hinn personally. May God forgive me if I have misjudged the man. :)

Did you see Bruce Almighty? My wife and daughter saw it the other day, it didn't seem to have made much of an impression on them, hasn't once appeared in a conversation. 'Course I don't go to movies much, except under duress, or to see LOTR.

Okay, here are 2 photos of the box I packed. I have it mostly packed in the first photo.

Okay, in this photo you can see: THE books!, twinkies, ding dongs, beef jerky, eye drops and chapstick. There are 4 eyedrops and 12 chapsticks because he shares with the platoon. Also, those ziplocks I have filled with chex mix. Oh, I just noticed, you can't see the ding dongs, they are under the twinkies (or maybe I ate them myself LOL)

Okay, this photo is to show that I put 300winmags donation of Ranger Rick books over all that. BTW - I do love those books but didn't get to read all. The were very cool. As you can see I've got it packed tightly.
I didn't get the Tang, Sam's here was out. It wouldn't have fit in this box anyway. So, I'm going to get the tang next week and bake the cookies - I may bake them when I go to see my Grama this weekend. I'll send them with the rest of the chex mix I got for him next week. And I think I'm gonna grab some of those Swiss Rolls, just in honor of some of all ya'll that liked 'em so much yesterday.
Anyway, am out of here to the post office now.

Good morning! I'd personally like to see that yellow object in the sky!
To: Sam Cree
Did you see Bruce Almighty? Not yet. I've been skeptical about it. The first time I saw the previews, even though I laughed, especially at the dog sitting on the toilet reading the newspaper, I figured it would be pretty blasphemous.
But from what I understand, it's not that way at all. In fact, our youth pastor even referenced it the other night at the concert.
We may go see it if we get the chance.

Thanks Ruthy... I was, in fact, imitating the Croc Hunter when I picked it up... said exactly what you did... " CRIKEY! Ain't she a beauty!... " Jr was squeelin' "it's still movin'!..." I responded with, "he ain't got no head!... what's he gonna do? Bleed on me?..." he didn't get it...

Good morning .. Some of you may remember me from the "Anyone-Who-Puts-Their-Kid-in-Daycare-Is-Evil" thread the other day. Wn invited me over..

(nice view of yer foot in the picture)

That looks like a fine care package! Oliver North spoke in Tulsa this last weekend and said this about soldiers:
"One may send a care package with disposable razors, shaving cream and toothpaste, M&Ms, beef jerky, toilet paper and baby wipes. He will share them with his entire squad and he will be the hero of the day,
