Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I miss LCS! I was thinkin' the same thing last night. We need him here to issue the thread implosing warnings. We might never have moved here in time if not for LCS.

Yikes! Good thing you had a gun with you!
I'm soooo glad I live somewhere where we mostly just have little garter snakes...
To: g'nad
We've considered Pyrenees Oooooh pretty dogs they are. My brainstorm came up with a Rhodie- the lion hounds.

Rhodesian Ridgeback- a good multi-purpose dog. Hunts and herds, clean, and family friendly.

If snakes in your yard is really a big problem the best thing to have around is guinia Hens we have discussed guineas, and chickens... guineas make good watchdogs... or so I hear... I know it's rare to die from a copperhead bite, but I could do without my leg being swollen fer a year...

Those are REALLY popular around here, for some reason. Not as common as labs or Goldens or mutts, but there are quite a number of them.
A friend of ours has a sweetheart of a Rhodie who they got for a rather low price because she was born without a ridge. I love their coats - they kind of feel like horses.
I've never heard that they're dander free or anything, though.

Wow, you ME'rs are intense. Hi...welcome to the Hobbit Hole. Well...ME is what originally brought us together (that and conservative politics), but we talk about plenty of other things, too! (A LOT!)

Goood Morning! Another rainy start, tho the weather channel
promised there'll be some sun this afternoon.
Had a breakthrough with my dufuss cats- the hunger strike is over. I've got to get some weight off of them and the vet's perscription just isn't getting the job done so I'm switching them over to a raw meat diet. I purchased a 'kit' that, with a certain amount of meat and liver, comes pretty close to real prey. The biggest part of the kit is a powder that replicates the nutrition found in bones and fur and such. The cats didn't mind that so much. But they hate- HATE- fish and the vitamin E and D is supplied with a small amount of salmon oil. What kind of cat turns his nose up at salmon? The kind that would rather starve for three days! LOL! Well, I whipped up a batch of chicken sans salmon and they love it. I'll just have to introduce the fish juice back in slowly.

What kind of cat turns his nose up at salmon? My cat eats salmon cat food but turns her nose up at people grade salmon....go figure. She tells me which kind of tuna to buy: if it's not chunk light with salt and in water, she won't touch it. :)

I've never heard that they're dander free or anything, though. Don't know anything about that either. I just hear they're good dogs.

I didn't get to try the file conversion for MIDI
Concerning Hobbits. I was working on
this.

Ooh...very nice! Excellent playing! Which whistle did you use? I forget.
Isn't it a lovely tune? I like it a lot. I played it a little with my brother last night - he also used a C whistle.
To: RosieCotton
I used the C whistle. I'm still not very consistent at those half-hole thingies. The only half-hole note was the C#.
To: g'nad
Hey, g'nad...if you order chickens, I sure would like to get a couple of buff orpingtons someday...not now, because we have Roy and Jar Jar...but someday...
You could just order them and go down to Cackle and get them!
To: 2Jedismom
yup... we may get some guineas from there...
umm... what's a buff orpington... and what's special about 'em?...
To: g'nad
They have guineas too...
http://www.cacklehatchery.com/guinea.html They say the min. order is 15, but I think that is just for safety in shipping. If you are picking them up, you wouldn't need to purchase that many, I wouldn't think.
To: g'nad
Buff Orpies are a good "combo" bird. They lay good and are good eating.
