Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Just $45...can you believe?

Poor girl.... Needs a spot to retire to.
To: HairOfTheDog
My grandmother had one of those Pyrenese things, how strange...
To: HairOfTheDog
We've considered Pyrenees... alot of people 'round here have 'em... they kill coyotes, and drag dead or near dead deer up to the house... least, that's what I've been told by two different guys that own 'em...

You are dadgummed good to have around g'nad. Wish you'd been around when I lived in the country. Neither me nor Myranda is quite that good of a shot. Though you and she have the same caliber handgun.

I can't imagine living where there are things that can kill you just 'out in the yard'. I mean, we have bears and cougars, but nothing that can hide under a woodpile. or in your kids underwear drawer, or on your living room windowsill?

I have always admired them when I see them at dog shows.... now that I look, I don't see them listed among the breeds shown as dander-free (maybe I am confused) I know I remember a breeder telling me that they were. They are cooler than any of these other choices: "Basenji, Bedlington Terrier, Bichon Frise, Chinese Crested., Italian Greyhound, Kerry Blue Terrier, Maltese, Miniature Schnauzer, Poodle, Portuguese Water Dog and the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier are the breeds that the allergic dog-lover can best tolerate. "
To: Sam Cree
Was it a cool dog? Did it have a lot of dander?
To: HairOfTheDog
Hair; excellent - great photos & I concur, one dog can fulfill both roles.
To: 2Jedismom
2JM, woowee, you are fast, and it's just down the road a piece from the G'nad place.
To: HairOfTheDog
I can barely remember him, it was in the early 50's when I was very small, my grandparents had already passed away in the 40's. But yeah, I believe it was a great dog from the way Mom talked about it. He eventually played a part in family history tradition.
Don't know about the dander, not allergic to dogs, only cats and horses.
I just read in a magazine a good quote: "You'll never drown if you were born to hang," I never heard it before, but I bet some of us have.
To: Sam Cree; g'nad
I have not heard the quote before!
And I am bugged because I don't see any mention of the dander situation with GP's in my searching, and if they were special, I'd think there would be. So I guess I don't know if they are really a good choice for g'nad's sneezy relatives. Cool dogs though!

I'm logging off...Steve is working on his thesis but will be home soon. Matthew can't sleep and reading a book on the couch. I've got all these chicken books to read. I think a little popcorn is in order.
To: 2Jedismom
Have a nice evening 2J....
To: Corin Stormhands
I'm back. Do I look thinner?
To: HairOfTheDog; 2Jedismom; JenB; All
Good night everyone, had a nice time here this evening.
To: Corin Stormhands
Yes, thinner. G'nite, Corin.

We are gonna get you two fixed right up! That's my intent here too. Talked to g'nad about it some at Dwarf-moot. I have a lot of PR work to do.
And if that doesn't work, I have a lot of saying "this is how it's gonna be," to do. I'd rather not have to go down that road.
To: g'nad; HairOfTheDog
we're torn on a dog... breed... inside or outside... inside would seem to be a problem since you've already marked all the furniture...
To: HairOfTheDog
What's that in the road...
