The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Jame is getting some response to his Silmarillion discussion. A lot of it tends to go towards trashing liberals.
I don't think you need to worry about that conversation dampening what happens over here. Only one or two of the regulars here are participating in the Tolkien Virgin articles.
I know we started the Silmarillion over here a while ago, how about we do that after you're done with TTT and RoTK? I really like the idea of keeping things on this thread because then the discussion will probably be a little more livlier have a more consistent participation rate.

HA! Rush just said if John Edwards speaks for the "regular people" that Joe Liberman must be speaking for the "irregular people." ;-)
Was that an Elfbash?

LOL, it does when I actually check it! ;)
I will be out the rest of the day, but I have a surprise for you'all...I hope I get it posted before I have to head out the door....

I really like the idea of keeping things on this thread .... Same here. It's easier to keep up.

What could you possibly say that would upset me? Your too sweet 2JM...
12 feet should be alright... probably tough to go higher. Ideally I would go 25-30 feet, but then it's hard to see them...mind you, I've never built an owl house... It's just the roosts I've seen have always been up there a ways...

So if you've built an "owl house" and a group of pigeons wants to move in, do you tell them it's restricted housing?
To: g'nad
Well, it seems we have a Great Horned Owl outside, because
this is the sound it makes...I don't know if my box is big enough for this particular owl!!

alternating chapters between books three and four. That way we don't have to wait so long to talk about Sam and Frodo. That sounds like a cool idea to me. It has always frustrated me to follow Sam, Merry, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli for so long and then suddenly skip to Sam and Frodo. Then we hear nothing back from the first group until we start Book 5. Ugh.

Here are a couple of teasers for you:

To: Corin Stormhands; g'nad; Wneighbor; All
Corin - thanks for the lovely cake. It will go down nicely with the lunch I've prepared, burned up under its own candles or not!
g'nad - ooooohhhhh. I can wear them with my necklace. Wait, I'm putting them on. Wow! They look great altogether like that. Dwarves give the BEST gifts!! You with the jewelry and Corin with the cake. YIPPEE! Excuse me while I show them off to the Elves. *wicked little laugh*
Wneighbor and the rest - thanks for all of these great brithday wishes. Now let's have lunch!
First things first, I've got the pints sent up for those who wish to join me in a celebratory toast! Now, lots and lots of rrrrripe meat off the bone (babyback ribs, T-bone steaks and a large beef roast), a brace of conies in a stew with taters, sauteed mushrooms (Farmer Maggot was generous today), corn on the cob, collard greens, biscuits, cole slaw, tater salad, baked beans and a couple of roast chickens. I've got plenty of sodas and juices if you wish to pass on the pints. Sparkling apple cider is available and, as always, a fresh pot of coffee is brewing! ENJOY!

To: 2Jedismom

I can mimic an owl pretty well... it comes in handy fer turkey huntin... and fer messin' with thew owls at sunrise and sunset...

You should change that to "ELF-LAX" and put Elrond's "stern" face on it. Heheheeee...

So if you've built an "owl house" and a group of pigeons wants to move in, do you tell them it's restricted housing? no... you tell the owl, "Dinner is served..."

I'm not all that great at image manipulation....I got that from KneelBeforeZod on an Edwards bashing thread.

Thanks Ruthie. I've got to have that lunch now. Biscuits and collards and mushrooms sound good. To go with a big ol' T-bone. Yum yum.
To: g'nad
LOL Just what I thought!
Well it'll be interesting to see what comes to live in it. The cedar stuff that I put in the bottom is the bark...you know how cedar bark is kind of pealy? Well, we pealed a bunch off of the trunks Steve is using to make the fort and it's really thick and fairly soft!
