Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh, of course I've gone back. But I'm getting ready to sign off for the night and go work out. All this "gettin' up at 4:00" thing is doing is annoying me when the alarm goes off. I can go tonite 'cause my s-i-l and m-i-l are here. (Mrs. is working).

Yeah my mare got her. She went down without a sound. She was 10 yrs old, has been knocked out cold numerous times by the horses, but she would not learn. I think she was starting to get slow is why she got caught. I think she was half nuts though from being kicked so many times. We worried about her, the older she got the farther her eyes bugged out. Had alot of weird habits, like chewing on the door. Or everytime I reclined my recliner she went tearing out the door baking hysterically. Strange habits. This dog was wired for 220. The whole family had a love/hate relationship with her. She really was a sweet dog to us, loved all of us, but she would not leave the horses alone. Chased them constantly.

Yep, she's an elf like her mom. She likes adventures. She's actually thanked me for choosing to live for so long in a falling down old house so that we could travel and see the country.

Sounds like a nutty dog, so sorry about that though! A friend had a little Scotty dog that was nuts and barked at the horses. Their fences couldn't keep her out of the pasture, but for the most part, they ignored her until one had a baby and then she got stopped hard twice. Not just kicked, but full weight, rear up and stomped by the mare. Twice.
We thought it would be dead but it wasn't. Took her in to fix a nasty head wound, and the day after she came home she went right back out there barking at the horses, head wrapped and all. Completely incorrigible idiot dog! They scooped it up that minute and gave the dog to a family member who had thought the horses terribly mean for stomping such a sweet little dog (heh) At least she appreciated that the dog kept rabbits out of her garden.

Yeah we have missed her. But on the other hand it's been easy feeding since she was gone. No blue streak out there nipping at their heels constantly. She was entertaining though. Our other heeler really seemed to grieve for a while I thought we might loose her. She lost alot of weight. She seems better this week. She's older, hasn't done much but sleep since Josey left.
