Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I thought birds have kind of a cold reptilian look in their eye, so wasn't so sure about them as pets.

Well, I had a good new developement at work this afternoon. I have to say that in spite of the problems I've had with this job I have about the best boss anybody could hope for. He has really gone to bat not only for me but also for the other teachers who were facing tremendous cuts in their summer pay. I think it's commendable when a boss with buck his bosses for you.
The way it turned out, last Tuesday I was looking at receiving only about 40% of my pay for the summer. That was not enough to even pay my house and utilities even with the airconditioner off! Then, by Wednesday he had gotten my pay up to 50%. Still not great but better. Well, when I got there today, it's closer to 60%. So, looking at my budget I can make it through the summer on that - AND ACTUALLY still EAT!!! LOL
And since one of my classes didn't have enough students, I am only required to be at work on Mondays and Wednesdays until about 1:30. That way I can still find a little part-time job for the other days of the week or even evenings on Monday and Wednesday. So, I'll be good.
Although, I felt so good about the news that I didn't go check on the job opening at Family Dollar store after I got out of work. I came home and took a nap to make up for the sleep I missed waiting for the call from Germany last night.
