Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Somebody fetch my pints!

I don't know if I'd have the guts to play in a session, especially on whistle. If I did...well, my brother is still telling me that I should get a Sweetone. He's totally hooked! His friend just got a Susato, and I really like the sound of it, though Bill said it's harder to play. I may start out with a Sweetone and get a Susato later - though if I start going to sessions I think I'd probably attempt mandolin first!
But from what I've heard the nearest session (it's about an hour away) is pretty competitive - i.e. they go really, really fast and I'm not sure how open they are to newbies. I want to go at least once just to listen, though!

Never a dull moment around
your house.
Seriesly, hope your brother will do okay.
To: RosieCotton; 2Jedismom
I might need a Susato at the Entmoot.

I was seriously just taking a platter of cookies out of the oven and thinking smuggly that I hadn't even burned myself a teeny bit when my hand slipped out of the hot pad and I burned my finger!
Crud bucket!
I gotta go...Steve's coming in. BBL

Adding your brother to my prayers! Keep us updated!

Hair: Finished up the second tape, after fade out from FOTR, it goes into the soundtrack while scrolling all the names of the LOTR fan club, must have been thousands to last for the length of the sound track, the Day in the Life of a Hobbit, which was quite enjoyable. Then the TTT preview, also pretty cool. All in all, a great double tape, the pitch about the 4 disc CD was funny in that here we were watching VHS and they were advertising the CD set.

Well, gang, I'm going to go try to get things together for tomorrow morning - my first day of work! I'm really nervous, though it's silly, I know. I'll feel a lot better in a week or so when I know my way around and have at least a general idea of what I'm supposed to be doing! I hate unfamiliar territory, both physically and...well...unphysically speaking! What WOULD be the right word there?
I probably won't get a chance to check in until tomorrow afternoon, but I'll try to post quickly and let you know how things went!
To: RosieCotton
Good Luck!

Hullo! - Back from pints. I had two, even though I had had a whole half already!
My friend had a lot of complaining to do. She is depressed because she doesn't have one friend who will go to spring training with her for 10 days (Mariners) in Peoria AZ, even if she pays for it. I tried to help her figure out where she went wrong ending up with a worthless set of friends such as myself and the others. I don't like baseball!
To: Wneighbor
Well, this was a few years ago now... 89-92 kind of time-frame!
To: Corin Stormhands
Oh Corin, you have to answer the phone!
I hope your brother gets well again. What a season you are having between your wife's family and your own.
To: RosieCotton
Good luck at work tomorrow Rosie! - Tell us how it goes in the new office!
To: osagebowman
Day in the life of a hobbit is but one of the features on the DVD! - I hope you do see it someday! Good stuff is there!
To: Wneighbor
Heh, that's funny... Rose said she liked hearing me read it, because she could imagine me reading to our kids. We don't have kids (yet) but hope to one day!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Chicks like guys that would make good Dads... That is sweet, Bear.
To: RosieCotton
Good luck tomorrow! I suspect you'll find yourself fitting in quickly enough. ;)
To: RosieCotton
I know what you mean about getting the feel of the place. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow! You'll do fine.
I firmly believe that the inhabitants of this Hole are some of the brightest people in the WORLD...they'll be bowled over by you, I'm sure.
Your cookies are done! Both yours and OTs. They will be coming to you in baggies of six...for a total of 30 cookies. That way, you can freeze what you don't want to eat right away. Or, you can take them to your office and pass them out to your co-workers.

MMMmmm... mine was more like .... 76-77 time frame. uh... I was just up there for about 8 months. But, it was beautiful. Except, I was raised in southern Texas. And wasn't prepared for a winter up there.
