Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I forget to dry the clothes all the time. Yeah...me too. Sometimes I forget for a day or so...and then end up having to wash them again 'cause they start to get musty.
Gross, I know!
To: Corin Stormhands
HEH..... I did have to keep refreshing the page to see who was gonna take the leap!
To: RMDupree
Ha! You're probably right! I don't like the way the dry clothes feel, so I just put off drying them!
LOL
You're a better shrink than most shrinks I know.
The jedis are more excited about these chickens than they are when the helicopter circled our house. Humph.
To: RosieCotton
I know what you mean! Same thing here.
To: AnAmericanMother
This is a good spot to relax and chat.
I venture out and end up in battles out there sometimes, but I can always run back here.
To: RosieCotton
I wonder if I could join the Army reserve as a nurse? Says the age limit is 46...

It was just sittin' there! Honest!. I wasn't about to spam for it. But I make no promises where the 40,000 is concerned...
To: 2Jedismom
Depends if you want to be sent away.
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh that's right.
By the time I would feel like it was ok to be sent away, I would be too old.
Better just stick with the disaster relief group in a few years.
To: 2Jedismom
I'm sure you could...but you'd risk being deployed for extensive periods.
To: RosieCotton
True...didn't think of that.
I wish I had thought of it when I was like 27. I was very athletic and would have done well, I think.

Well, Fri. is grocery store, Wal-mart day for me. If I go early not so much of a crowd, although I am already pushing it now. So I'll see you all later. Hope you get good chicks, hey maybe they will be orpies:) Since talking to you I have found out they are pretty popular around here. Maybe that is what will be in stock.

Now, what would be doable, is perhaps seeing how to get hired part time at the veterans hospital.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!
To: RMDupree
WOW! - I am amazed at how intimidating that picture is! I can't look at it!

My mare is "itchy" and will try to rub while I'm taking her bridle off (she gets a bit correction when she tries to rub on the ring fence while we're waiting in line to jump or whatever). On the ground, I pin her head by grasping the nasal bone and one ear and say "NO!" Once I have the bridle off, I hold out my hand and let her indicate the itchy bit by pushing against my hand, then I scratch it really well with my fingertips. She has learned over time that she will get relief faster if she does it my way.
She was head shy about having her head bathed for a long time, but she is getting better. A soothing cool bath to get the sweat and dirt off helps a lot with the scratching behavior. In the winter time I sponge her head, especially around the ears where sweat tends to collect.
We have an unbridling routine - I slip the bridle off her ears and hold it perpendicular to the ground, then tell her to "spit" - she goes "patooey" and spits the bit right out of her own mouth. That way if she clanks her teeth, it's her own fault. :-D Cracks my trainer up - "what else are you teaching that mare to do?" "Don't ask." I've taken up clicker training with her - adopted from my dog's agility class - amazingly it works very well.

That's a thought!
I just feel like I need to do SOMETHING.
You and I, Sis...we're about the same age and having epiphanies! LOL
To: HairOfTheDog
You should have seen it full size! I shrunk it a bit before posting.
Sorry!
