Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hmmmm...just made me think...could lembas be thin, slightly crisp-at-the-corners blondies? NO! Definitely not!

Hmmmm....where should I start this weekend? I should check out the garden and see what's up or what got washed away in the deluge. Operation Declutter is still ongoing, then there's Operation Repaint, Operation Deadwood, Operation Pinecone, Operation Lawnmower.....

Oh yeah, thanks for mentioning it...
Yes, I agree that Junior needs to play in that game, his "mates" (to use the Australian term) are depending on him. The youth pastor should understand, and even approve, I am sure.

They'd be golden colored, though!
Not creamy inside, though, I guess. And something tells me elves don't cook with brown sugar.

We're trying to decide whether or not to go to a Medieval festival thing tomorrow. Yesterday I noticed a program I've got tacked up on my bulletin board. I thought of you guys. It's from a concert in Colonial Williamsburg.
They do regular concerts of colonial period music. This one was a "Candlelight Concert" in the Governor's Mansion. Harpsichord, violin, viola, cello and flute. The players are in colonial costume and it's done completely by candlelight.
It was great.

Ack, well. I just got off the phone with county. I ended up being nice because the lady was a fountain of information. Turns out the builder has waaaaaaaay too many outstanding temporary occupancy permits that it hasn't made good on, some dating back a couple of years. The county started holding up permits 5 months ago, we contracted 3 months ago. So clearly the builder misrepresented its ability to get permission to build the house. I don't know what getting a lawyer might accomplish other than being a symbol of my irritation. A discount on the house price perhaps? He might just tell us we should have done more homework, but I don't need to pay someone to figure that out.

WN - my cyber meals are sadly lacking compared to the real culinary abilities of the ladies in the Hobbit Hole! Bite your tongue!!! That is totally not true. sorry for this food spilling out the side of my mouth, I'm trying to eat biscuits and gravy with a mountain of bacon crumbled on top. And these deviled eggs are wonderful. Sorry I didn't leave any!

I've made these butterscotch brownies. No chocolate but with brown sugar and lots of butter.

Yeah...that's what we call "blondies". They're not brownies, but pretty good. Especially with pecans.

I would like to work on Operation Brownie...

I am surprised at how many of them who use word processing programs don't understand why they need a keyboarding class. I took a year of typing when I was a Jr. in high school (thankfully we had IBM selectrics). But it was one of the best things I've done. Made some money in college typing term papers for other guys in the dorm.

This elf uses lots of brown sugar. But not in stuff like that. Lembas is cornmeal based.

Good morning! ALL
- I am up....took my walk, twice-round the pasture, so if I do it again tonight, it will be the third day of actually sticking with this idea of exercising a little. I would like to think that eventually I will run it instead of walking fast, but it is just too ankle-twisting where the grass is deep. I do not my obituary to say "she slipped on a pile of horse sh__ and fell on her butt."
Bay took all of his medicine this morning. He has to have 25 pills(!!), morning and night. These pills are evidently not bitter and he will just eat them mixed in his food. Good thing, because if getting the pills in him was difficult I was going to say lets just jump to stage II treatment, an injection of Cortizone directly into his heel, which would last three months.
HA! - I love it when they re-use drugs originally formulated for people on animals. Whole bunches of little tiny pills for a 1200 pound dose for Bay, and my cat getting antibiotics that taste like bubble gum.

Lembas is cornmeal based. *sigh*
To: Lil'freeper
A discount on the house price perhaps? I like that reparation!! A lawyer might help put some teeth into getting that at any rate. You can always ask the builder yourself and then consult a lawyer if he isn't willing.
I'm weird, one of my best friends is a lawyer so I forget lots of them charge for just consultations. But, at any rate, usually first consultation is free or minimal.
