The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Ooo....we'll need an Entmoot Countdown clock.

Who has the skills to make something like that? Ecurbh?

Thanks for checking it out for us and all that!

You're very welcome. I'm glad I can perform this service for everyone. ;^)

How many days until Entmoot?

I'm not sure. Our first day with the castle is 1/9/04. Maybe ecurbh could get one of those clockdown things for his Entmoot page.

I've already got a countdown clock for ROTK in Java. All I have to do is change the code and put in the Entmoot date. But I can't post applets to FR. As an alternative, I could find some countdown clocks in Javascript somewhere and change the date....but I can't post that on FR either. :(

Ya know, as soon as I hit the "post" button I realized what I had just opened myself up for. It was one of those "DOH!" moments. ;^)

But we could post a clock on ecurbh's Entmoot page. Couldn't we ecurbh?

I think we will get a couple from Becky, if it's still ok with her. The feed store never got back with me. I might have been more pushy if it'd been closer. It is a long ways off.

Sigh.

Good morning!

Do you have a recipe for a good squash casserole? Using yellow straightneck squash?

I could try to find one. Usually, I just stir fry. My mom used to make one with onions and some kind of white sauce (if memory serves) topped with bread crumbs....kind of like scalloped squash. :)

I like to bake winter squash with dressing in it, like a breadcrumb dressing. Even done with with one of those Stovetop mixed types.

But straightneck is summer squash, right? We usually just fry that.

I love squash, all types! So does my cat, strangely enough...

Mmmm!!!

We're doing good with squash, peas and lettuce. The peppers and eggplants are growing well, but no produce yet.

Remember when I moved the compost a few weeks ago and found the bunny nest underneath? Well, I think it killed the bunnies when I moved the nest...the mama never came back.

Yesterday I was digging around with a stick and found a bunch of fur, but no babies. Then I found I was COVERED with fleas!!! ACK!!! Steve went out and poured pyrethrum all over the area. Any other suggestions?
